Have the same pdl as yours but in the orange camo color. Have had multiple yaks and can attest that this the best quality and best pdl drive out. One of the most stable and easiest kayak to fish from. Love my Sportsman. Enjoy your vids. 👍

I have the same Sportsman kayak but in Ember, absolutely love my PDL 120 I purchased in 2020. I live and fish the coast here in Maine. I have a back issue and my seat is not a problem, very comfortable. I have been out on 208 outings with this kayak since 2020, also retired and have time to log all my trips. No issues with my kayak whatsoever. Do have a question for you, do you start your GoPro's with a remote when you catch a fish or do you let them run wild and film everything? Even starting mine remotely, my battery only lasts about 3 hours. And just subscribed to your channel :)

I let the cameras run. Found that it eats through batteries either way--especially in hot weather.

Really enjoyed your video! I’m getting ready to buy a fishing kayak and this one looks like a winner! I’m wondering if I would need a trailer for this kayak ? I don’t have a truck to transport the kayak but I have a small SUV. Is it difficult to put on top of a SUV by yourself or would I need help?
@Retire2Fish2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on your capability. I have a friend that’s a stronger than average male that does it by himself all the time. However, he has learned best techniques for his midsize SUV. If you are able to get a trailer, it becomes very easy. I have a full size truck and it’s a very easy process for me. Sorry if this isn’t helpful but I’d hate to say you could do it without knowing you.

Any issues with the rudder system so far? I’ve heard some videos complaining about the tension knob and having the rudder not staying in the direction you put it.

I've never had this issue. Still going strong with no problems.

What kind of shoes do you have on? Those look really cool.

I got them off Amazon. They’re cheap water shoes but I really like them. I can send the link if you want?

How would that kayak do on the buffalo river or spring river? Lots of rapids and fast water in areas.
@Retire2Fish Жыл бұрын
It’s according to who’s piloting it.

Just wondered about the PDL if it flips
@Retire2Fish Жыл бұрын
Fast water wouldn’t be the problem. Shallow would be the problem. Drive and rudder can be stowed up-but paddling the PDL isn’t great. Heavy and doesn’t steer like a lighter kayak.
@Retire2Fish Жыл бұрын
@@hoggcountry7483 I’ve never flipped it-or came close. Very stable.

Do you get any water coming in at the motor connection on the floor? Thanks.

No, I never have. Everything in the bottom of the kayak--to include my feet, stay dry.

Is that a 5.5 foot bed? Do you need an extender or no?
@Retire2Fish Жыл бұрын
No extender needed. It’s secure with only one strap-but on long trips I use a second strap at the front of kayak.

My advice...stay away from Hobie...buy Old Town❤. I believe the Hobie Kayaks are cheaply made. Do you want a disposable drive? I do not. Hobie, you’re losing business with your inexpensively manufactured products. Wake up or soon you will be gone....These Kayaks are outdoor recreational sportsman gear. Build them to be virtually indestructible. Hobie, you will see your customers will appreciate the quality if you would only improve it!
