Nothing lasts forever but your TV is going to be completely obsolete whenever ATSC 3.0 rolls out in your area. Not to worry because AT&T 1.0 will remain in most areas for a long time. The reason is because they're having trouble trying to convert over and it's just in the early stages. I mean it's going to get so bad that even some HDTV's won't work because you need to have an ATSC 3.0 tuner. But that's for another day I'm just saying that eventually you won't be able to pick up any signals.

@UncleMikeRetro6 ай бұрын
wow, I never thought about that. very close.
@evansullivanrichgels55314 ай бұрын
I’ve never experimented with it which is why I don’t know but I wonder if you used an Rf modulator for your companies cable box and plugged it into your vcr’s coaxial cable input, most likely you would have to set it to channel 3. Would you be able to record shows on VHS tapes. This works with any antenna with a set too box if you take the rca out of the set too box and put it to one of the inputs on your VCR, however if you’re using a company cable box many times you won’t be able to replicate the same because they have macrovision protection which prevents your VCR from being able to store the data displayed onto a VHS. But an rf modulator might work. Fun experiment for anybody who has too much time on their hands.

You could plug in a modern game console or PC with an HDMI to RCA or RF adapter. Just make sure if you're using a PC, scale up using display scaling not resolution if possible, and your GPU driver or OS should come with overscan configuration. Rokus should work good since they are made with big text and up until 2 years ago they still sold composite models, but not youll need an adapter.

I say yes, unless the devices hasn't a best before date printed on their serial code label. I use a 32"crt from 2005 both for retro gaming and for watching regular tv and VHS tapes in my bedroom, whereas I use the 55" oled 4k 120Hz tv from 2020 in the living room for UHD/BD&DVD movies and modern consoles, and the desktop PC. (FYI. the VCR is a toploader JVC HR-7200EG from 1983, matches the style of the crt despite their huge year gap). Nothing wrong with that.😊

feels like you are living on borrowed time. these devices WILL fail. I dread that day
@draxoronxztgs12125 ай бұрын
@@UncleMikeRetro Some of them beside what I've mentioned has already failed, that's how I got them for cheap & free 10-20 years ago. But most of them have I brought back to life again, with the oldest ones dating as far back as 1893, and one radio from 1927 with triode tubes. After 25 years of experience in electronics, and 13 years as an electrician who have repaired switched psu's and a lot more, I'm not worried at all that my other vintage things will fail as I can just repair them again. Some of the appliances i fixed when I got them almost 2 decades ago still works, that is longer than a new device would've last unrepared and untweaked. It is true that nothing will last forever, but it can always last longer. And for another thing, whos time am I borrowing?
@UncleMikeRetro5 ай бұрын
ha! we all have only so much time allotted to us. even devices! but bully for you being able to self repair these
@draxoronxztgs12125 ай бұрын
@@UncleMikeRetro You can also extend your own lifetime by eating healty, exercise if not moving a lot at work, and living well with good habits. So I don't view life like it has a set time in how long it gonna exactly last, because if so we would've been able to predict everythings death with 100% accuracy and never be wrong, and be totally unable to prevent it. Some people gets the chance to see their 100 years of age, whereas some don't even pass 30. So life is totally random and all dependent on the individual and background. As said before, nothing will last forever, but can always last longer.
@draxoronxztgs12125 ай бұрын
@@UncleMikeRetro Also about being able to repair stuff, is a skill everyone with a deep technical interest and years of practicing can achive if they really want to. It only matters on what they spend their time for. I did this for fun in the past, now I do it because I live on it and need to, and it's a neverending job as there is always something to fix, and the pay is decent. The more I learn from the job, the less effort it takes to get it done and it becomes more as easy money. I can already tell that some computer parts made in the 1970's til early 2000's are much more worth as whole and working, than the amount of gold it contains, and can earn you 3-4 digits $ for a single part.
