Regardless of opinions on this, I congratulate this man on his skills and knowledge. We live in times where we are all to quick to write off and fill the local landfills with this type of equipment. Maybe we should not be looking at value of the item but start looking at the value of the damage reduction to the environment in our chuck away society. Well done!

For others trying this, when rewinding the motor, count the number of turns in the coil and use the same diameter of wire! This is important to get the same motor power. Also make certain you don't damage the enamel insulation when installing the coils. Short circuits in the windings will stop the motor working!

Glossy clear coat would bring out the shine and make it dark again no need to use color

FYI, you dont have to re-spray with the same color. Just sand paper it to the highest grit you can get and then spray a clear coat. That way, the color will stay the same as the original

Hi if you wated to have the plastic look as new again Just use a heatgun for a short time on the plastic

Что бы запресовать подшипник можно было и самодельную приспособу сделать из уголков и пары резьбовых прутков, так надегнее 😁 У нас пылесосы и в лучшем состоянии выкидывают 😁 Досмотрел что бы увидить как заведется 😁

Помимо забивания подш-ка железным молотком (что не вполне корректно, ибо ведёт к забоинам), он этот подшипник не промыл перед тем как заполнять смазкой.

You haven't say any thing about testing of coils, how to find out how many winding it has? And how to test the armature etc. please explain

You have to measure the thickness of the original wire, and count the number of turns. If the coil has varnish that has turned brown, black or has bubbles, then it's defective.

Очень хороший пылесос. У меня такой пылесос, тут он фирмы Sharp, у меня он российской фирмы Rolsen, классный, хорошо работает, ничего не сломалось. Никогда не разочаровывал. Он у меня с 2006 года. Сейчас нет такой техники как раньше.

I love how you rejuvenated the motor .....those are usually the first thing that blow out. But you were lucky with this model, the newer models are all fused together or its been tightly wedged in.....so not easy to take out without breaking the plastic ( yes I am talking to you Dirt Devil ha ha )

At first I was a bit surprised that you chose a vac like this one in Croatia they go by cca 70€ which was about 1/4 of a month pay in time these were new to the market. Today they go by similar price. And pay has gone up but still for a new one you still feel it in a monthly budget. What would be the price of restoring it (just the mechanical part). I'm always for repairing instead of going out and buying something new that doesn't necessarily mean it's better.

I love what he does but when a new bagged or bagless model is only 40 euros here in Wales ( which on average is 1/40 of a month pay) it seems a bit too much effort. Got to admire what he does and i am addicted to watching his videos.

@@thorfrun8959 If we go by labor cost, yes, you'd go way over the value of buying a new one if you lived in a westernized 1st world country. But everyone has a hobby and if you're into restoring stuff, the parts cost is far lower than a new machine. The most expensive item on the bill of materials here is the magnet wire. Depending on the gauge and how much you need, you can spend $20-30 on it. But, you can recoup part of your cost by recycling the old magnet wire, recycling centers pay good money for stripped copper these days. I'll take my tailings from wiring jobs I've done and average $60-$200 for a tote full depending on the type of wire. Consumables like paint, sand paper, solder, etc. are pennies if you just count the amount you use. I do electronics repair and it always amazes me what people throw out for relatively minor faults. TVs and monitors with blown power supplies are the most common, and people probably see the sticker shock of a replacement power board and just buy a new one. I devised a far cheaper method using 3D printer power supplies and buck/boost converters, which looks a bit silly mounted to the back of the unit, but works great.

Nice job! Try using a longer sweep when spray painting, helps prevent pooling. Consider suspending parts from an attached wire frame when painting. Kudo's on the rebuilding motor and bearings.

Indeed. However the bearings weren't actually rebuilt but just opened, checked and regreased a bit. Not even the old grease was de-greased first.

I'm a bit surprised, I'd have guessed no earlier than the mid-1990s, more like early 2000s. 1980s vacuums tend to be a bit bulkier and less rounded in my experience. They also usually sound different, the motors run at lower RPMs.
