I was 7 yrs old in 91. Dad had Vespa . We used to travel on that ride. Used to live in azizabad block 8. Tariq Rd hamarey liye bohut fancy jaga hoti thee. Teen talwar or do talwar was out of reach. Alhamdulillah now settled in Australia . Weired but journey to remember.

old signboard & cars, roads pe bikes ka rush bhi nhi hy, wide clean roads, no net cable wires, limited PMT's & poles means hazardous wires ka jhamghatta nhi tha jab, ground+one bangoles of nazimabad, dum ghot'ti onchi buildings bhi nhi thin, aasman saaf nazar aaraha hy yar, limited traffic,,, Kaaaash... ye waqt phir se aasakta, is waqt hamare kitne apne jo is duniya se ja chuke hain wo apne kisi na kisi kaam main kahan kahan busy honge😢 Allah sab ke piyaron ki maghfirat farmae, Ameen.

I was 15 when then video was made and had just moved to Karachi from another country and lived in Pakistan until 1995. I'm sure the situation there is terrible now, from what I hear and read, but make no mistake that Karachi was pretty horrible back then too. There was an electricity issue then, the army rangers used to roam the streets, and crime was high (granted nowhere near as I hear it is now). You may be romanticizing Karachi because you were far too young to know the ground reality and were enjoying the blissful ignorance of childhood. But yeah, just so you know, I wasn't exactly thrilled when my parents told me we were going to live in Pakistan for 3 years.

Brought back some amazing old memories. 1.5 years before this video, i left Karachi for USA for higher education. 30 plus years later, what used to be an amazing metropolis is now in ruins thanks to corrupt MQM and PPP. They pocketed their pockets instead of investing in the infrastructure. Sad story of Pakistan.

I left Karachi in 1983 and returned for the first time in 2010. What a cultural shock! I came of age in the mid to late 1970s and it was still a great time to be in Pakistan. There were (of course) issues but I never remember a lack of water, electricity or basic services. We used to live at F-15, 4rth Gizri street, Defense. It was right next to the Iraqi consulate. I wonder if those places are still there. Great misty memories of a time long gone.

I was way too busy working in the US. And whenever I thought I could make a trip, something came up. Life happens sometimes. Then in 2010 I finally got an opportunity to go back for 6 weeks. It is too long of a trip for just a few weeks.@@faisaldj

@@w.6145 My father's younger brother had been living in the US for some 20 years. He was a professor of Organic chemistry at one of the universities in Michigan (I now forget which one). He sponsored my father in the late 1970s and it took about 3 years for the paperwork to go through. It was relatively straight forward back then. Just file the paperwork if you were eligible and wait. It really is not a question of being "upper class" but of having the right information at the right time. I joined the US Army upon entering the US and received my citizenship in 2 years. It was because I was in the US military and did not have to wait 5 years to file for my citizenship.

Nothing changed since then.. the same disorganized traffic, noise and air pollution, vehicle smoke, dusty, broken & dirty roads, mawa culture, piles of garbage and cattles pleasing their apetite over it. 30 years are way enough for a country/ city to get developed and become better and better. Being my city, I feel pity however; the system has rotten so much that it really needs to be thrown away at any cost. There may have been few transitions in terms of 'infrastructure' but.. a recent visit of mine, revealed everything. No one was able to save the city from destruction. People who don't have enough guts to change themselves, shouldn't be having any expectations from God to bring the change. O&O.

This seems to be a issue with South Asians in general. I've traveled to many countries but the level of filth and disorganization is endemic to not only the cities in South Asia, but to the areas in Western cities where there is a large influx of South Asian. It's a shame, honestly. Here in the US, South Asian restaurants are generally dirty from the inside (although the food is amazing which makes people tolerate the filth). Even when you go to any area within a large metro area where there are large pockets of South Asian immigrants, such as Devon St in Chicago, Jackson Heights in NY, or Bissonet in Houston, you'll find the same filth on the roads and a total disregard for law and order that is evident in South Asia. It's really sad honestly.

I visited in 1995 for a cousins marriage and I remember even though things were turning to crap in the city then, it was still charming. Historical citys with bungalows and wide pre-partition boulevards cannot be beat.
