@2:16 - "Though not quite on the level of The Sandlot . . ." You're right; it's not on the level of The Sandlot - it's vastly superior to The Sandlot! I'm speaking of the '76 original; I've never seen the Billy Bob Thornton remake.

There is nothing politically incorrect in the first movie. Thats how kids talk to each other in real life.

None of the kids in the original version came across as actors in front of a camera. Even the actors seemed like genuine kids not trying to get laughs.

One thing you missed is how Chris Barnes grows up during the movie. He looks different throughout the movie. Look at him at the start of the film and then at the end of the film.

In her autobiography Tatum said she was in a bad car accident years after this movie and Walter Mathau came and visited her in the hospital. Also...the complete horror/shock when the coach hit the kid...the kids were just so naturalistic in it. They really acted like regular kids, not actors.

Thanks for creating this video. Very interesting. I prefer the original in all aspects to the remake. I can watch it many times and get something new from it. The remake is worthless. I only prefer remakes if the original film was a poorly made film. If the original was good to great, then what's the point to make it again other than to make more money. And that's Hollywood.

I'm glad you enjoyed the review, but I actually do think you can do good remakes of good films. Even it the original is a classic, you can still admire a remake for what it is if they add some new twists or fix some plot holes...which unfortunately they seldolmly do anymore, hence their poor reputation these days

There was a Rudi Stein, the first pitcher. The statistician was Alfred Olgivie, played by Alfred Lutter III

To answer your previous question, it's actually SISTER Bear. And I thought it would be funny to include her in her baseball uniform, seeing how the title is "Bad News BEARS" and is about baseball.

I watched the original. To me, Jackie Earle Haley always looked weird. He was supposed to be the heartthrob, but I could tell he was not going to age well. He was always naturally thin and time did him no favors.

@TheBackSeatBoyz8452 жыл бұрын
Just for context, if Ray hit Joey in the remake, he’d be arrested on site. I think this is what makes the remake a lot better in hindsight. The original is a little league movie post vietnam, wheress the remake is a meta commentary on the ridiculousness of youth sports and unfulfilled coaches.

@@vcandrewscritiquer Let's see, we have one person who is a content creator, reviewing the differences between the two movies, and then another person who is trolling the comment section. I'm going to take a guess that it's the troll who's living in the basement. I think the original had this one locked because a remake just won't hit all the right moments. Also, some of the defining characteristics were sensibly toned down, but in doing so, you end up losing what made the movie.

Not even close. The original seems so fake and just stupid. The newer one is objectively better and way more realistic and believable
