the AAL old livery is regal, beautiful,very polished. I saw the new livery as I boarded a southwest flight. I gasp at the horror telling my friend, omg AAL is as ugly as southwest. it was a sad day for me, but the SEa crew laughed and comped me a much needed cocktail.

As a kid in like 2004-06 when going on a lot of American Airlines flights, I used to love the way the old livery looked. It was very unique and different to the other planes. I always looked forward to boarding the plane. The new one looks boring, although the old livery does make the plane look as if it was manufactured in the 1960s

It's such a wonderful plane, everyone who works in it has nothing but great things to say about it. Inside info, if you see a 757 with the old livery, it's going to be retiring within a year or less, just waiting of a replacement plane, either a 737MAX or a 321NEO. Some 757-300s will still be serving flights from PHX-HNL, but they majority will be retiring soon.

We just kept 4 B737-823W with the legacy polished aluminum, one of them is N905NN The B737-823W with the Retro lignting orange line under the windows named the ASTROJET , N907NN B 737-823W with polished aluminum with the AA on tail and N918NN B737-823W also with the Legacy AA logo on tail and the orange American on front. All Jets are just average 6.7 years old. The 4th jet also a 737-823W with the Retro livery and polished bare metal, dont remember the registration number though.

The old (and better) livery was such a great icon of American aviation. Now, the livery is such a unattractive grey on grey scheme which always makes the aircraft look dull and dirty. The old livery was also so unique and classic. It's such a shame they changed it for no good reason.

My problem with the new livery - more specifically, the logos, is that it was way too radical a change, too quickly. Notice how, up until the most recent incarnation, they kept a variation of an eagle betwixt two As for the logo - and how those elements stayed, even if the specific styling for them changed.

XxRaze_Playz RBLX Bruh. The old paint was better, but it was way more simple to create. It also used less paint, increasing efficiency. The chrome is just the polished aluminum underneath. The new livery is extremely complex, but just on the tail.

There was no good reason to extend the red stripes all the way down to the fuselage. It distorts the lines of all the aircraft they did that do and it makes the flag look pasted on as opposed to painted in the way that last white stripe contrasts. The American flag logo should have ended trim and flush with the horizontal stab.

There's nothing particularly bad about the new livery...if it replaced something else, I might even like it. But I still like the old one better. For one thing it's the end of an era, since I can't think of any other polished metal liveries still in use, and furthermore It was a classic look with an excellent pedigree (designed by Massimo Vignelli). Particularly after United threw away the last vestige of their old Saul Bass livery (the Tulip logo) in favor of adopting Continental's impressively dull blue/white/gray (which itself had supplanted the Saul Bass "meatball" livery) a decade ago, it's sad to see another outstanding design (and designer) vanish from the skies. With the MD80s now out of service, I assume the changeover is finally complete.

I don't see the draw to the old livery. It was eye catching 20 years ago when they started flying the 757, now, the mismatched fuselage colors between the nosecone and the undercarriage. It doesn't have the same draw, especially seeing it up close. The old livery 737s are dirty, moldy, falling apart. The 757 is a wonderful aircraft, I prefer it to the 737, but flying a 23 year old aircraft is scary. The structural integrity of the plan becomes questionable as well as the safety. But again. I'd take the new livery over the old. That new grey, when it's in the air and hits the sky in the right light, completely disappears.
