We danced it many times in our dance balls, so I am very familiar with its tune and melody

Thank you for posting this tune mentioned in Paul Léautaud's "le Petit ami", wonderful memory book about Parisian life at the peak of its flavor and charm. It's nice to be able to hear the music an author had in mind as he wrote.

We danced it with string orchestra melody by imported LP record

Apparantly it was a "'smash hit" at the Paris Expo of 1900. Oddly enough, Paul Morand talks about a certain "Marzy" as the composer.

Benoit Vanhees Could marzie refer to margis? He is reputed to have written the valse blanched, rose, mauve, etc. The various colours .
