Old Wardour Castle in Wiltshire, England, tells a tale of medieval grandeur and historical upheaval. Built in the late 14th century by John, the 5th Lord Lovell, the castle was a testament to his status and affluence, characterized by a unique hexagonal design that set it apart from other English castles.
The Parliamentarian forces laid siege to Old Wardour Castle, resulting in significant damage and its eventual surrender in 1644. The castle was subsequently abandoned, leaving behind the captivating ruins that stand today. Managed by English Heritage, the castle attracts visitors who can explore the remnants of the octagonal tower, the chapel, and the surrounding grounds.

What an absolutely stunning castle! Wardour is still magnificent after all of these centuries. Your can tell just how grand it would have been just by the windows alone. Interesting that they filmed some scenes from Robin Hood at this castle. Thanks for the tour!

Hi Alessa, the Castle ruins was stunning standing there as you walked up towards it. Loved the staircase going up to the next floor, with numerous rooms, the views from out on the balcony were amazing. The grotto was very intriguing. Loved the history and your narration and of course the drone footage showed the castle at its best, have a great week, see you soon x Julie and Tony x

Awesome tour of this castle and wow what a history! Seems like owning a castle back in the day just meant you were constantly having to fight to hold onto ownership of it 😱 My romantic dreams of what Castle ownership once was has been firmly dispelled! I’ll take a humble cottage in the woods instead 🤣🤣 I enjoyed your informative and delightfully narrated history of this once great old castle and its embattled history.Kudos as well to Brett for the well done aerial flight over the area.
