Complete version of a 1981 promotional video celebrating Washington State University. It's narrated by WSU alum Keith Jackson, and the song is by Bruce Innes (incorrectly noted as Bruce Ennis in the credits).
This is the full video; due to KZbin's old 10 minute limits we'd previously had only a partial version online. This was digitized from a 16mm film held by Washington State University's Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections (MASC) in their unprocessed university films collection.
The football game depicted here is apparently from Saturday, Sept. 27, 1980, in WSU's Martin Stadium. The Cougars beat Army 31-18.
The cowboy theme appears to be a combination of several factors. One was the success of the movie Urban Cowboy in summer of 1980; another was the country nature of the Old Wazzu song. Both of those combined to create a cowboy theme that the film's producers decided to run with. Though some of the cowboy wear is filmed on campus proper, much of it was filmed at a Mom's Weekend rodeo at the (since razed) Hilltop Stables.
The stand-up by narrator Keith Jackson was actually shot on the University of Southern California campus in Los Angeles.
