I was born in Lincoln but a branch of my maternal family from the Lincoln area arrived in Worksop under a bit of a cloud in the 1840-1850 period, let's just say there was a bit of jail time after birds were stolen near Saxilby and it was never proved who was responsible for the murder of the birds owner. The family lived on Sandy Lane at one point which is sort of spooky when you consider I worked at Comet for a few years in the 90's and would have been almost in their backyard. A daughter married a chap by the surname of Northage who was living in Worksop although he died within a couple of years of the marriage. A son remained in Worksop and had a newsagents for many years though his mother and half siblings moved to the USA in the late 1800's. A fascinating little branch of my tree sometimes peppered with children of unknown parentage and meandering between Lincoln, Worksop and finally parts of New York County ending with a family plot in an American cemetery and burials in Worksop too.
