Actually, you are out of date, there are now nine extant families of gamebirds (order Galliformes): Megapodiidae (Megapodes), Cracidae (Curassows, Guans, Chachalacas, and Pollopavo), Numididae (Guineafowl), Rollulidae (Roulouls), Phasianidae (Pheasants, Monals, Yejakuns, and Tragopans), Odontophoridae (New World Partridges and Quails), Perdicidae (Old World Partridges and Quails), Tetraonidae (Grouse, Turkeys, and Koklasses), and Gallidae (Chickens, Shizurens, Francolins, Spurfowl, Senlinaos, Ropohons, Jinegus, Daoiren, Peafowl, Arguses, Nartakees, Wajameras, Rohutans, Snowcocks, Chungchis, Alavorona, and Shabalrimals) Note: species of the genera Rhizothera, Melanoperdix, Xenoperdix, Arborophila, Caloperdix, Rollulus, Tetraophasis, Pucrasia, Ammoperdix, Margaroperdix, Excalfactoria, Viridipes, Tropicoperdix, Haematortyx, Polyplectron, Rheinardia, Argusianus, Oreoperdix, Arboricola, Sondaicornis, Sinortyx, and Bambusicola are renamed as species of the genera Pucrasia, Polyplectron, Rheinardia, and Argusianus are not true pheasants, species of the genera Rhizothera, Melanoperdix, Xenoperdix, Arborophila, Caloperdix, Rollulus, Tetraophasis, Ammoperdix, Margaroperdix, Viridipes, Tropicoperdix, Haematortyx, Oreoperdix, Arboricola, Sondaicornis, Sinortyx, and Bambusicola are not true partridges, and species of the genus Excalfactoria are not true quails.
