HURL was the shit. Absolutely loved it as a kid whose game library consisted of shareware games present on magazine CDs

I had few of these CDs packed with shareware too. I think there was this gaming mag that exclusively released with them as opposed to others that featured 1-2 "real" games on their CD's...

12:13 they are available in Canada tho. The US probably banned them because of smuggling things inside the eggs, which could be reheat sealed again.

Nope, they can't have edible things directed at kids inside plastic containers. I remember seeing a video on it. It was surprisingly interesting.

I so wanted the CD32 back then, but at first we couldn't afford it, and then couple of years later PC was just a more future proof option.

CD Project: "we'll make a game for kids!" Also CD Project: you stab people with a knife in it and shoot them with a harpoon gun!

Also CD Projekt: We'll release this amazing sci-fi cyberpunk story with meaningful choices, incredible cast of characters and super involving side quests but we'll drown it all in technical issues. Though truth be told, I played it upon release on PC, so I had no problems whatsoever other than the missing and undelivered content and the police.

I had heard of Happyland adventures and will definitely give it a go. Btw, good luck with the career dreams! Hotshot actually looks like a great idea for a game with a friend. Too bad that it doesn't play very well.

Happyland is a happy land... WOW! So creative! I should give myself a reward. Preferably something carved out of a potato. xD What I mean, is that it's a surprisingly fun little platformer, that may look overly cute, but it doesn't skimp on gameplay, so it's not just looks and no substance.

Hi there! I haven't found Cool Spot (1994) MS-DOS game in all your videos about DOS games. Also I remember there was a game for MS-DOS (but I don't remember its name) - it was some kind 3D-shooting gallery with aliens and it was sold on 2 CDs (I would say a real 3D graphics!). Really try to find it but still can't - it definitely was before 1996. AND also the was a game with a cuty graphics about a boy (some platformer) but I didn't find it in your videos. Maybe this will help to find new games for your videos.

I think I have Cool Spot in my Amiga videos, never thought of it as DOS game, even though it obviously released for it. Perhaps it's a candidate for Obscure DOS video, but I'd have to check first how rare it was, to see if it qualifies. As for other games, do you remember anything more about them, extra details or something? It would make it easier to try to figure out what they were.

For some reason my mind thought of Zarlor Mercenary on Ataris handheld Lynx when i saw that Korean GoGo! shooter...not as cute though. Ever done a Lynx video?

I can't say that I have. I might in the future but I'd have to set up emulation for it, to at least check it out as I've no real experience with the handheld.

Would be cool, i had the original handheld back in the day and was pretty happy with it, had to little good shooters and platformers but it had some impressive graphics and the contraol pad/buttoms was great. @@OldAndNewVideoGames

I owned H.U.R.L. on CD at one point - I think the concept was good, it could have been a decent game were it not for all the sloppy technical aspects - namely that the hit detection is some of the worst I've encountered in my ~35 years of gaming. Combat seems to be straight out of "TES: Morrowind" with seemingly direct hits constantly whiffing either because the hit detection algorithm skipped that frame or they were in the middle of an animation and seemingly invulnerable, making it very frustrating to play. I liked the cartooney aesthetic etc. but it was clearly thrown together by people with little/no experience making FPS titles.
@OldAndNewVideoGames

Well, whatever you wanna say about the game otherwise, if it makes you lose/die/feel as if you were failing, just because it's badly put together, and not cause of your own fault - it's a bad game. :)
@yellowblanka6058
@yellowblanka6058 Жыл бұрын
@@OldAndNewVideoGamesOh yeah, as it is it's definitely a chore to play, but if they had addressed the rampant technical issues it could have been decent. Still wouldn't be an amazing game - the Wolfenstein 3d-esque engine definitely wasn't state of the art even when it released, but would at least be something playable for young children.

(Hotshot) i feel like iterating on Arkanoid by adding player 2 would just make it feel even more like pong. Random ball physics sounds like biggest disadvantage, maybe have a layer of blocks that change ball's behaviour or alow player to do it upon reaching certain score sure but random is bad, it needs to feel like i have failed the game not that the game decided i have failed. good name for sports game tho. (Industrial Killers) that game should have dropped the serious rescue mission gimmick and focused on goofy sounding pie in the sky (yes i know it is adige) dev name, make fun of all sorts of pies and skies or even better utilise the engine to give us pie battles in strange places .) that would showcase engine capabilities much more than attempting realism with those graphics (i assume representative of the offered engine's best possible quality?) and maybe hide few problems under the styling too for added quality looks. (jump 'n bump) soo it is one of those things that dress up as kiddy programming that are very much not? tho i do remember 90s being quite daring i do not remember many entertainment things that would do this particular idea (mostly just celebrity DM and maybe some of the MTV vignettes).
