Yes, 10 steps does seem like a lot but there's a reason for each one, to make sure you consciously make a decision along the way. Some of the steps are very quick and easy. I've seen other books condense this to 7 or 5 steps, but ultimately it's the same process. Choose what works for you.
Again, my reference is an old Biostatistics book I used in 2005, the 8th edition by Daniel.

This is the first explanation I've seen that explains why you should work out the p'value even if you already base your decision on the test statistic. "We were gonna accept it regardless, but maybe it was even better than that!" Your explanation is ethusiastic and your graphics are vibrant. Thanks!

What is the meaning of the z's and the t's??
@AnaheimElectronicsInc.

z is for samples that are greater or equal than 30 or normally distributed, t is for sample size smaller than 30

It does not matter that is long. You got all the elements need to do the hypothesis testing perfectly. Thank you

This is the reason I have started my channel here to help others understand mathematics like you. This is very good approach in this field ,DAVIKA Academy which is my channel am working on both pure, applied and statistical mathematics. Once more keep it up let us transform the educational sector .

Sampling is your step 1. What are your data takers looking for when you don't do your alternate hypothesis until step 3? I'd think you want to make your prediction first, and then send your crew out to sample to support that prediction. ??

A manufacturer of a certain type of auto batteries claims that the mean life of his batteries is 45 months. A consumer protection agency that wants to check the claim took a random sample 36 such batteries and found that the mean life for the sample is 43.75 months, with a standard deviation of 4 months. a) Using the 2.5% significance level, would you conclude that the mean life of the batteries is less 45 months b) Using the 5% significance level, would you conclude that the mean life of the batteries is less 45 months

a) At 2.5% level of significance, we fail to reject Ho:Popl Mean =45, since Tcalculated > Tcritical. b) At 5% level of significance we reject Ho:Popl Mean =45, since Tcal
