06:13. : back in the early 1990’s, I was working at an “A1” rated Detail shop. We had free pickup and delivery. One of our regular clients had a BMW IL-X special Edition. All wheel drive twin turbo charged V-12‼️. One of the fastest cars I ever drove. It was a real beast. The man actually went to the factory and picked out the paint color, and interior. His wife had a 5 series- bought at the same time, and done the same way, so they would have exact matching cars. 📻🙂

As you say Richard . Car shows are always a compromise with what we like . Like yourself , that 420 G was my favourite . Looks like a Devon register. We always had these monsters in for repair , the front sections of the rear doors and rear sections of the front doors were the widest point and were victims to damage . I well remember a '63 manual was up for grabs at £60 !!!!! Well it was 1970 . Happy New Year to you and your family . 😊

The Jaq 420G is definitely the one I would go for, I have lusted after one of these since I was a kid.

Coincidentally, just a day or so before heading off to this meet, I was reading about a 420G in a magazine from a few months back, turns out it was the self same example.

A very happy new year to you Richard! That beautiful monster of a Jaguar 420G looks like its about to pounce on the poor little Imp! My Dad always took a tape measure with him when he went to see a car. It came out before negotiating a purchase an if the car wouldn't have fitted in to our garage he just drove off.

Very wise. Reminds me of when I had my XJ12, at the time I rented a lockup and I always had to push it in the last foot or so until it touched the end wall. A piece of carpet protected the car from the brickwork, but it was that tight that if the carpet was too thick, the main garage door wouldn't close :)

I missed this one on the day and yesterday was not a good one for me health wise. I liked the Alfa Spider they were great looking cars. The Saab must be quite rare now, at least I haven't seen any in a while. The old Vauxhall Victor FB is in really good condition and as you say there are not many left in road worthy condition now. I like that era of BMW before they started to 'lose the plot', very nice. I have to say I was not keen on the Jaguar MK10 , not totally ugly but not the best. The 420 seemed to improve in looks so I like it a little better. The Hillman Imp looked like a barrel of laughs with the BMW bike engine and probably less prone to over heating! Thanks for the video Rick and by the way you have some interesting buildings in your area I love those windows, just hope you didn't get the cane! 🙂👍👍

Oh the lovely Cholmondeley Arms. Nice big turn out of Porsche cars - what is the collective noun for them? Is it an eloquence or greed of Porsches? The grace, space and pace of that Jaguar 420G - the magnificence.

Hello Richard - Discovered OCC at the beginning of the Christmas holidays and I'm now a subscriber and a big fan of your videos. Any chance you could include a short diary of events in the last video of each month for those of us that don't have facebook etc? I'm thinking all the local stuff plus Capesthorne, Gawsworth, Tatton Park and maybe North Wales and Gaydon. What do you think?

One source says there were only 24 Jaguar 420G Limousines and that at least a couple survive. There's a Daimler S420 at Great British Car Journey and there are others for sale.

Yes DS420s are still around in reasonable numbers, I didn't know so few 420G limos had been built, I must see if I can track down the photo(s) I took back in 1990/91
