There have been a few updates to game mechanics since this video was released. This build is still possible, just use these techniques instead: BASE DEFENSE (Build Guide) Part XI - Conan Exiles < kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZy9hmN_h6Z1bZo >. Hopefully this helps. Thanks.

Wow, I’m truly impressed with this video! It was incredible seeing all these possibilities and tips on how to make a full build like that. I really want to test something like this one day. Would be interesting to see what would this base look like including the underground area as well. And I appreciate you checking how to build now that the new patch might make certain placements difficult or impossible. Keep your videos coming! They are awesome!

Thanks dude. Water is interesting to build in because it reduces the amount of explosive damage (can't burn underwater). So I'd layer some walls, layer some floors, build the entire length of the underwater section, and compartmentalize each section. The goal would be to make it as expensive as possible to raid.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that certain aspects are broken. I get the most fun out of Conan by playing in short bursts. I find a server that wipes frequently, join when it's fresh, go hard for a couple weeks, then walk away.

That is quite good base design. I like it. The location as well. I was planning to build on that place, especially because of the nearby points of interests. However, there is something that bothers me as solo player - it is quite expensive to create this. Why would i try to destroy the fence foundations/foundations when there is a door. Is it really worthy to build so many layers of fence foundations? I am asking this, because I had an idea that includes 2 layers of defense + front row of drawbridge. 3 fake entrances and 1 real one. It takes about 15-20 explosive jars to bring down one bridge, to only found out that there is no door or wall, but solid fence foundation/foundation behind it. That could be quite demoralizing for the enemy. To continue, once someone breaks in, he/she/they will find map room. On each 4 corner there should be an archer. The only way up is done by climbing towards the layers of hatch doors. But that is just my opinion though. ;)
@oldcraig5 жыл бұрын
Good question. So the most efficient way to raid doors like this is with explosives arrows. But there are drawbacks to using arrows: limited splash damage + slow (unless multiple raiders are shooting arrows at the same time). So raiders usually bring a 15/85 or 30/70 arrow to explosive split. Once you're in a base, you never really know the exact base layout, so sometimes you think it's more efficient to blow through the walls then follow the trail of doors. Your ideas are good - especially the fake entrances. There are two types of raiders: average and alpha. The average raider is much more conservative with their raiding supplies, and the alpha, well, they have an endless supply so they will just blow through in a straight line, usually. You're idea would work well with the average raider. The only way to succesfully defend from an alpha raider is to actively counter the raid. It's very hard to place explosives when someone is fighting you and repairing/rebuilding.

The new way of foundation stacking I think you found is place a fence foundation then use 4 triangles to make a parallel section then use square fountains to bring it back to the main foundation. Rinse and repeat. Not add good as your original layering video but allows 5 fences for 1 foundation depth.
@oldcraig5 жыл бұрын
Pretty much ;) I think the new method is much more tolerable (from a player's standpoint) then the densely stacked method. Explosives aren't too difficult to farm, and the thought of being limited to just 2 walls per unit square sounds terrifying.

For some reason I can't place all 5 hatch doors if I make a 5 layers floor. I can place the first top 2 and the 3rd won't snap. I tried swapping with lower tier hatch doors but it doesnt work. Edit : I can snap 1-2 and 4-5 but the 3rd one in the middle won't snap.
@oldcraig4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the update. It may have been patched. If you can still get 4 of the 5 hatch doors then that's still pretty good.

Successfully built this base using the new method of foundation stacking. Haven't started the exterior yet...no idea how im gonna do those half distance fences with such a small space on that ledge to work with....probably have to build foundations down to the ground and do it there...then bring it back up...FML.
@klla_km5 жыл бұрын
Update: don't waste your time with the 4/5 layer flooring for the upper floors..when purge comes they spawn inside your base and just destroy the upper floors. You them CANNOT repair it because half the pillars are gone. You need to remove everything inside and start again. Don't waste your effort on the upper floors.
@klla_km5 жыл бұрын
Thinking about this more, purge will ALWAYS spawn inside, destroying your base. The base itself is not connected to the external defenses. So this means the inside building is an isolated building that the purge cannot get to. This means they will always spawn inside..so don't waste your time and resources on this if you don't want to lose it all and not be able to correctly rebuild

@KeatonWadzinski5 жыл бұрын
INCREDIBLE, as expected man. couple quick questions. 1) if they remove the original foundation stacking, do you think they will ultimately patch out these methods for the beefy ceilings & perpendicular fence foundation placements? 2) if they do patch it out, how long do you think we'll have with this method? 3) could you do a pet video in the future? I'd love to see what pets combo the best with one another (eg spider crippling poison + hyena cripple), as well as how to effectively use pets for raid defense (placement, aggro range, etc). I've got some ideas I've been tinkering with that I'd be happy to DM you as well.
@oldcraig5 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your support bro. 1. Foundation stacking was around for a long time before it was patched, so I don't expect Funcom to speed up their patches anytime soon - but who knows? 2. With every new patch, there are always new ways of doing things. 3. So you're interested in defensive pets rather than companion pets?
@KeatonWadzinski5 жыл бұрын
@@oldcraigmy pleasure man. and that makes a lot of sense. and yeah! it seems like top tier (volcano named/relic Hunter Treasure seeker/etc) with the best armor value you can get and the best weapon you can get are just way better offense than any pet can provide. however, it's easier to farm greater pets (particularly scorpions & spiders due to how easy it is to acquire them in bulk late game + high % greater outcome). so I'm trying to figure out how to use them defensively and leverage things like their aggro range, their attack effects, their size, etc. to deter raiders. my working concept is a moat variant where raiders would have to walk through a ton of tames. to avoid poison arrow spam, I'm gonna build little "doghouses" of sorts so that raiders can only get LOS by walking in front of the aggro range. then angle them in all sorts of directions. I will probably do some testing myslef but it's a big project to figure out what aggro range is for each, which pets combo best with one another, best positioning, etc

@oldcraig5 жыл бұрын
The patch was mostly geared towards thick layering of fences on top of each other, which is understandable why they would patch that. If a square foundation is the base of measurement in the game, then personally, I think we should be allowed to build at fractions of that unit (i.e. 1/2). Imagine a base built using only perfect squares? It would be extremely boring.

“illegal bases” they make it sound like it’s the player’s fault for finding smart ways to build a good base. If its raidable, it’s viable. Unraidable bases that are built on non-buildable locations are the problem. These kinds of bases (as shown in the video) are still rather hard to do and take a lot of time and effort. If Funcom patches this again I’m gonna lose my shit. As always though, great video Craig.
@oldcraig5 жыл бұрын
I've always felt that as long as you are playing within the physical laws of what's allowable, then everything is fair game. It's not necessarily the player's fault, it's the developers fault for allowing it in the first place. On the other hand, if you're a player that performs serious exploits (duplicating items, meshing, etc.) and you kill off the population on your server then that's on you. I will never do a video on exploits. I enjoy Conan because 1. There is no perfect base 2. Human raiders are very challenging 3. The winner of a raid is whomever is more creative. Thanks man.
