Well, you certainly looked dapper in your hat and jacket! Those lovely houses are so big. I'm in Houston and the big houses are really only in the more wealthy areas. But where you are is much older so the houses would be bigger, I guess. I would love to have one of those big old homes! I'm the same age as you and my mother sang in a choir for as long as I can remember. She recently had to stop due to dementia. She just couldn't keep up anymore. Thanks for the ride-a-long and all the sights and sounds.

We spent a good deal of time in that particular house (now a bed and breakfast) because my mother grew up just a few houses down the street. She has fond memories of the 1950's when she would visit the "old couple" who lived there at the time. She particularly remembers the large open fireplace in the kitchen and being served hot chocolate when walking home from school. The house has new owners now and it was turned into a bed and breakfast several years ago. The couple who own in now have restored it beautifully and it looks much as it did in the early 18th century.

I loved the hometown visit. I too was born in what used to be a small town. The hospital I was born in looked like a small brick house from the 60s. It was tiny. I was the only baby in the hospital. And, the doctor that delivered me later became an oral surgeon and he was also the doctor that removed my wisdom teeth. I miss small town life...sometimes. Also, I have to admit, I laughed out loud at the figurine in the short pants and red shoes. I guess he was on vacation when the star appeared. 🤪

Your dress is soooo?.. well? I just love it..lol..reminds me of a gentleman sitting in a old enchanted Library, in a Grand house, the smell of old books, the hint of old leather, aged Mahogany, Oak and Cedar..musty carpets and dusty furnishings, old fireplaces and lingering cigar smoke.. Nothing smells better than a old enchanted library.... I like this video, its nice to see places and traditions from history that we don't get to see in other parts of the country, because they are not as old, And can claim Victorian era status, but not Colonial, as where you are.. but?..it made me miss my little Queen Anne farmhouse in Colorado, I can't wait until this current stay here in St. Louis is over.. Merry Christmas Scott.

Great video! Your hometown is so gorgeous. It looks like one of those Christmas Villages that people collect had a fairy godmother wave her wand over it and it grew up into a full sized village! You're so lucky to have such a beautiful place to come home to, not to mention having your mom still there to welcome you. The town I was born in has completely disappeared due to massive redevelopment. I grew up in a colonial village in Northern Virginia that is currently in the process of having the same thing done to it. (Anybody remember Arthur Godfrey? He used to have a big farm in Leesburg, VA and before he got his own plane, he used to fly back and forth to New York, LA, etc, via the old National Airport. He would then drive to and from the airport via our town. On his radio show he would always talk about beautiful Falls Church - the 'most charming village in Virginia'. It would break his heart to see it today!) Anyway, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed this trip home with you. And how happy I am that Salem decided NOT to sit down on that wreath. Pine needles can be awfully painful on tender under bits.
