I'm a 40 year old man, divorced with 3 beautiful girls and beautiful exwife! I've been a horrible father #1 and husband #2. Put a lot of worldly possession before my family. I have heard and listened to this song all day today. I've cried and laughed. It's made me think a lot. I need to do better! Old Dominion thank you!

Dude, it’s not about the past. It’s all about the future. Small changes can make a massive difference. I was a horrible person for a while, had affairs and as a result my first wife divorced me. I was lucky and managed to maintain a fantastic relationship with my daughter. I married another woman and had another daughter. That relationship was awful (the grass was definitely not greener on the other side). We divorced after only two years. Then my real luck happened. My first wife saw a change in me. I had grown up a lot. I asked for another chance and she gave it me. My first wife became my third wife. Every day I try to prove, in some small way, that I adore her and always will. Some people believe in God and worship Him. I believe in fate and that some things were just meant to be. My wife and kids are my addiction. It took a long time, even after we re married, for my wife to feel safe and secure with me but we got there. It took even longer for my guilt to ease but o got there. I still have that feeling pop up now and then but I can look back and say I wouldn’t change a thing apart from the pain my actions caused. I have the most amazing wife, one successful grown up daughter that has grown into a strong woman that won’t be bullied by men and I have a beautiful young girl that sue to distance I get to see every couple of months in person and every day on FaceTime. My life is complete and I can honestly say that it was just some small changes on my part that changed my fate. Go for it. Make those changes. You might not win your wife back but I promise you that your life will improve. It won’t happen overnight but life will be better. Good luck.

My wife had a very hard time being vulnerable with words. She played this song for me to express her feelings. It had allowed both of us to start healing. Beyond the video, I think the words to this song are exactly what many people want to say, but have difficulty getting it out. Thank you for a song that allows real people to open their hearts and be vulnerable through song. You have honestly helped find the words and the moment that saved our marriage!

My Dad passed away almost a year ago and somehow felt like this was his apology to me for all the bad things that happened back then. He spent his last month of his life in a hospital. But he spent it sober. He didn't spend it lying or drinking. He spent it surrounded by family and friends. And then he went home to Jesus. To be with my mom. No more pain. No more addiction. Maybe deliverance is right into God's arms. I love you Daddy.

I grew up in a different era with an alcoholic father. It was just he and I as my mom passed away when I was younger. It makes me sad that he never was able to move into the "recovering alcoholic" phase and he died three years after my mom. He taught me the most important lesson I have ever learned, "I will never be that type of father". I am proud when I talk about my own 3 children and the relationship I have with all 3. The laughs, the quiet times together, and watching them grow are the best parts of my life.

homeless sounds hope less. i like home challenged. than sounds like the condition is temporary. just remember home is where your heart is. even if it is in not good place. it hopefully only temporary with the help of friends. and you know a stranger is a friend you have yet to meet. but when you do meet you know the tracey Lawrence song about knowing who your friends are. if i need a haircut or trim i would search out jason and pay him a fair wage or do something that would look like a helping hand up. i know he would prefer a simple thank you thank you than ask for money. it is a code of brotherly love. and you need two hands to wash one hand washes the other. and a helping hand begets a helping hand back.

Tuesday was sale says and the Auction would hire temp help (mostly homeless people looking to make quick dollar) to drive cars and jump box just for sale days. The gentleman was my jump box guy over time I got to know him until one day he was gone. I thought maybe he just missed that day . He didn’t show up the next week which was very unlike him. I asked another guy who knew him well. That’s when I found out the horrible news that he was murdered over a few dollars by another homeless guy. My heart broke and I haven’t forgotten him and this was 2007. Glad to see someone with compassion to help those who are frowned upon by society. My hat off to you !

Kate Wells I’m so sorry for your loss! I know how you feel! My dad struggled with it almost his whole life and nothing that happened to him (falls, broken bones, his daughters & granddaughter begging him to get help) would make him stop. He passed away suddenly in June at the age of 67. I didn’t get to say goodbye. He would have been 68 the other day on 4/1. I miss him so much! This video definitely pulled at my heart as well. I wish he would have got the help he needed and maybe he would still be here. He just gave up at the end I think and to this day, it hurts so much that I couldn’t do anything to help. Just wanted you to know that you’re not alone with the heartache you feel with the loss of your dad. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💔💔💔 thank you for sharing your story.

I regret not answering the phone when he called about 50 times but I needed a break. 😓 I tried everything to get him to get help too. He was just to broken and gave up. 8 years sober. I ugly cry to this song. Some people do change, and I’m so thankful I was one of them. Old Dominion speaks to my soul.

This song has helped me so much. I am a recovering alcoholic and I have 17 months sober and it’s one day at a time. I’m glad this video is out there to show how addiction can’t keep us down. We work hard everyday to stay sober and it’s so worth it!!

The song, the words, the voices, the harmony, the story that unfolds on screen, all show the joy that comes when people show love for their neighbor. And I know that the greatest love felt was felt by that gentleman giving the haircuts and styles. Not by the ones receiving them. What a beautiful arrangement. Yes, there is probably no joy bigger than to help a stranger by doing something for him that makes him feel worthy.

This song has special meaning to me, separate from the actual video. It has helped my relationship heal, because of the theme of the words. I still cry when I hear this song but now it's a healing cry. I can't wait til we can see you live again, and hear this special song live. In the meantime, I'm planning on having the song title as a tattoo around my wrist. To remember. To be better. To allow others to try for better. Thank you for all your music and especially this song

During these times of uncertainty and hardship, I think we all needed to hear this. This song is humbling, sobering and provides a moment to put our priorities in order, and to out things in perspective. This song is also a reminder that it's never too late to forgive someone, and it's also never too late to forgive yourself. Thank you, Old Dominion, for providing this wonderful gift to the world.
