First thought.. what a kind man. Isn't he the kind of person you want when stepping into such a place? What brought me to this video, was I wanted to show my child the candy stores we used to have when we were children. There were adults we would run errands for, they would give us their empty soda bottles and we would turn those in for change (which was a lot for us kids back in the '60s and '70s). We'd head over to the only candy store in our town. There was a polite gentleman who worked there as well. I remember telling him that one day, when I get old enough I too, will work in a candy store and I'll be able to eat all the candy I want... This gentleman genuinely wants to be there, who wouldn't want to be there? Thank you for taking us here... Hello from California!

What a lovely shop owner; Service with a smile. (It's just a pity that the prices are so much more than back in my day when we could buy a quarter with our weeks' pocket money...ahh the good old days ! :)

Quality! I haven't seen some of these sweets for decades! I used to love acid drops. Pineapple Chunks and Cola Cubes are great too.

The UK had the best sweets in the 60's and 70's. I really miss those days

Some still exist to a certain extent. One of the newsagents in my town have sweet jars stacked on their shelves behind the paying counter.

This visit brought to mind the sweet shop, the proprietor and his big personable cat, in James Herriot's fictional Darrowby, pre WW2. Someone behind the counter who loves their work, likes people and is endlessly patient with wide-eyed children bestowing their pennies and tuppences on as many sweets as possible.

Okay watching this video, a couple things came to mind: Firstly, let me tell you how refreshing it is to see someone who knows about the product they’re selling! Very rare nowadays, i don't even need to go into details with that. Just one word- consumerism. 2. A past memory came flooding back: my aunt used to own a sweet shop, and when we were little, the way the sweets are stacked, everything used to look so big, as they're stacked all the way to the ceiling and how excited we got, especially the feeling you got when you opened one of the iconic shaped sweet containers with the red round lid! The wooden shelves and flooring…ahh 🥹 i can actually recall the aroma of the sweet shop whilst typing! 3. A lot of choices of course, but what stands out right now is I can remember very boldly, the top 3 sweets coming to mind are: Snakes, them spaceships that melt soon as it goes in your mouth and everyone’s favourite, the little cola bottles!! And I remember their were 2 types, one that was coated in sugar and other was the really chewy one! I remember they were so popular, that during holiday season they made extra large ones!! Lastly, this guy looks like a really kind soul. Sometimes people have a certain type of aura to them, he reminds me of someone who would have a lot of stories to tell just from the day-to-day life!! Thank you for this video and a memory from my distant past!!

Oh boy, I just realized this video's 5 years ago. Well I'm not going to delete my comments... And if the place is still open and I can order from there, that would be great to support such a place and person!

Smart the kids can't help themselves to free samples from the bins, that's not only gonna make him lose money but that's how people get sick.

He had almost finished showing you everything and then you said ‘ok I’ve seen more than enough’ and then ended the video. This man let you into his shop to record him and told you everything he possibly could in the nicest way he could do it. Don’t be a rude wanker and maybe people will follow your channel, the world will give back if you are kind.
