I would love to see more content on this Chrysler! Im a huge fan of the 70s, 80s era Chryslers and i never get tired watching content related to them. Neat backstory. Great that you were lucky enough to buy the exact car back years later.

l remember my manager of the accounting department of a major food producer where l worked in 1983 had one. It was a slug in performance just like all the other american car manufacturers with introduction of fuel emissions. Yes they were beginning to think about the environment back then. l bought my 76 Triumph Bonneville with 650 original miles on it for $50. For my antique MC gas tanks l have used KBS tank cleaner and sealer kits. One can see the steel after the rust has been removed. Coats with a plastic material but one has to move tank around to coat evenly all around before it sets.

My cousin bought a Cordoba exactly like that one brand new in the mid to late 70s..I's thinking about her car not too long ago cause she always let me drive it and I kept it shined up for her and it's like everybody liked the car cause it was a nice ride and it was pretty peppy but I only tried it out once cause if ida broke it she would have been so upset with me..She always let me drive just about everything she had cause she knew I'd bring her car's back all shined up..I can't believe how much that car is identical to the one she had...

Thanks for this video, its cool to finally hear the story on this car! Glad you got the thing back too! Save yourself the headache though because the Sniper EFI is just going to slow the car down. Same thing with the heavy power robbing 4 speed overdrive. You think your wheel HP is low now? Just wait till you throw that huge transmission in there! You could achieve the same or similar RPM drop with a larger diameter tire without adding so much weight to the car. I purposely decided not to swap to that heavy pig of a transmission for free when doing my Magnum 360 swap remember? Right now my car is pulling 1.8 second 60 foot times better than most AWD cars with the same little Holley 600 and still cruises at 2000 RPM at 45 MPH with a rather short sized 26 inch tall tire. Moving up to a 285 70 15 would drop 45 MPH down to 1700 RPM with my 3.55 gear and these are the tires I plan on running next time I go on the Power Tour. All your car needs to light up the tires like mine is the right cam, intake and carb combo that are actually made to work with each other in the same RPM range. In fact I didn't want to say anything mean back then but I knew when you picked this big choppy Comp cam and that Edelbrock carb that you were going to have nobody home below 2500 RPM. Especially with your rear gears and body size. Most cams that big plainly warn you not to install them unless you have 3.55 gears or deeper. When I was following the build I tried really hard to get you to use the FelPro 1008 thin heavy duty head gaskets during assembly to help gain you enough cylinder pressure to overcome these low RPM issues. I also tried really hard to get you to pick a cam made by Hughes Engines in Illinois that specializes in Mopar performance like I did. Particularly one of their "whiplash" cams that is specifically designed to optimize a low compression small block Mopar for neck snapping torque. I could see this low RPM laziness coming a mile away and tried to warn you but I still remember the video where you said you were "confident the 400 HP was there" in the rebuild. There's still a good chance that you could advance that Comp cam a bit with a keyway kit and get it to work more efficiently and in a more usable RPM range for your gearing. Not sure if you saw but I helped my friend set up the 318 in his 4000+ pound 76 D100 and we got it to burn tires like nobodies business by advancing the stock cam a few degrees with a keyway kit and swapping to a 4 barrel. At least until he lost a ton of power by swapping from a Qjet with 200 CFM primaries to an Edelbrock with 325 CFM primaries. I picked the Qjet for him on purpose because a heavy car or truck with a small motor needs small primaries and vacuum secondaries for good low end torque. Otherwise all that 4 barrel worth of air and fuel is just too much for most street motors right off idle. In short your cam is too big for your heavy car with highway gears, your cam timing is not optimized for the situation and your carb is too big for your gears and weight. You can advance the Comp cam with a keyway or replace it with a Hughes cam that actually fits the combo and replace the Edelbrock with something more appropriately sized like a Quadrajet with 180-225 CFM primaries or a 450 CFM Holley/Quick Fuel vacuum secondary with 225 CFM primaries. The Summit CFM calculator says a 360 engine spinning 5000 RPM only needs 442 CFM in a street application and 572 for all out race applications so 600 or 650 is way overkill for you, especially with that high duration cam killing your low end. Swapping to Sniper EFI is just going to make this way worse too because the Sniper throttle body is 800-1000 CFM and would be like putting a Dominator or a Double pumper on your car. Absolute overkill. Often times in Hot Rodding less is more. Good luck with it. Email me again if you need any more advice.

There was a "300" option package on the '79 Cordobas which included that grill and fenders. I had a gen 1 Cordoba but it was junk by the time I had it. My Sister had a new gen 1 and a new gen 2 Cordoba (LS version which was originally going to be called the "300" package). Dad had a '70 300 2 door hardtop. That sucker was big (with HUGE doors)! I know.. I painted it with black Centari paint. I can still remember the smell of that paint to this day. Do 'er up, Jason!
