Today I'm up at an HEB Fuel gas station in San Antonio TX along Potranco Rd (just off Loop 1604), and I'm here to check out this nice older mid 2010s PDQ ProTouch Tandem. This system was installed around late 2016 to replace an old Laserwash G5s that was installed somewhere in the mid 2000s, and is still in service to this day, which is kind of surprising in retrospect, because usually most of the older ProTouch Tandems, or Tandem RiteTouch systems got replaced by Tandem Surfline's by this time. There's nothing too much different about this ProTouch other than the red brushes which are an exclusive for HEB, and cosmetically, you can tell this machine was used very heavily is very filthy but looks are deceiving, as this system still gives excellent cleaning performance. I bought the top dollar car wash which came out to $13.99, and wash quality I would give this an 8/10, undercarriage was decent along with the wheel scrubbers acting as the side blasters (that's always been an odd quirk with these ProTouch and RiteTouch systems), the presoak application was decent, the soft touch cycle went very good as all of the brushes profiled nicely (top brush profiled excellently as well, and I do love how once it gets to the back of my truck's cab and over the bed, it immediately switches to the overhead blasters, that's some very clever programming), the wheel scrubbers and side blasters did excellent with both rotating nozzles on both sides working as they should, the tri-foam application was excellent (even with one color missing), the 2nd soft touch cycle went good with the single side brush doing clockwise lap around as opposed to counter clockwise like the first cycle, the post-soft touch rinse cycle went good with both of the overhead blasters on the rear gantry working as they should, the surface protection pass went good, as did the clear coat polish (and you may notice how this system is old enough to not have the lava falls feature on the front gantry just yet), and the spot free rinse cycle was good as well, and lastly the flash dry feature did a pretty good job (though I do admit, I'm not entirely too keen on the feature), as well as the final dry pass forward. I hope you've enjoyed the video and stay tuned for more to come.
