My father used to take me , my sister and my mother for occational Sunday lunch in early 1980s. It was a great place and real good food.

I liked the video. I have my reservations about beef and pork. The food looked tempting. When you recommend,it has to be good. We don't live in Kolkata now. But we are there every 3/4 months on a culinary journey. Thanks.

Makes completely sense, visiting for the food. I always maintain, Kolkata food is highly underrated. We make a lot of things better than most places.

I used to go there with my parents when I was 3 to 4 yr old. In 80s. The staff there used to put extra cushion on the chair for me to help me reach the table. Brings back memories.

I used to visit this place back in my college days when we managed to save what we earned from giving tution to kids. I always liked Park street chinese restaurants more than the Tangra ones.

In the 80's Waldrof was originally at the place where Marco polo is located. Perhaps the 3rd oldest Chinese fine dinning restaurant.

Considering its age, fame, and location, why should you describe Waldorf as a hidden gem ? Many of us 50+ years of age, mostly those living in and around central Kolkata, have known it since childhood, in fact grown up with it, considering the limited nos. of Chinese restaurants at that time - 70s to 90s. You are definitely well aware that Waldorf has always been ranked along with Peiping (alas, now no more), Chung Wah, Trincas, Golden Dragon, etc. But, it's good to see you feature this restaurant in your vlog. It's almost like going back to the roots. Unlike your other vlogs, the number of items sampled here seemed lesser, but as usual, the presentation was smart, and the views unbiased. In my opinion, Chimney Soup, as tasted in other restaurants, is basically a clear soup with lots of vegetables and protein thrown in. That is to say, the broth is not thick. Best wishes 😊

You said it, it’s lesser known among the youth. Let’s hope that changes. Also yes, I may have made a mistake with the consistency bit, perhaps this is also how it could be, and it did taste good regardless. As for the places you mentioned, I have covered Trincas already, which is available on this channel. I do intend on covering the other places you mentioned, hopefully soon.

These are all commercial establishments I’m afraid, don’t usually do walk in coverages for them. Newtown doesn’t really have much heritage spots which would warrant a detailed vlog coverage.

Faria that’s hard to tell for sure, although what I know is most places serve halal meat these days, not for religious reasons but hygiene.
