I always thought the oldest trick in the world was the Egyptian magician Dedi pulling the head off a goose and then restoring it. According to QI it is, anyway.

Amazing! And clean! You told us how the trick is done in order to reach into your pockets for the bigger objects. A magician is a master in deception and sleight of hand! Focus on the hands, you can see the real magic! Not fast enough Try the same trick without reaching into your pockets.

just follow the hand, when he lifts it he put something under. when he put his hand on his pocket he grabs the ball and casually put it in the cups.. . . . . Or just believe in magic.
