I think Andy's actually one of the best mandolinists alive. How many distinctive phrases he can extract from the mandolin!

He plays bluegrass, and jazz and klezmer and mixes it up and has his own special potion. Saw the trio finally a few weeks ago in Baltimore, was a nice night.

Such a raw style of playing hands down one of the best I've ever heard

I’d say that most of this is bluesman music - that is, blues plus Andy Statman. Then Statman starts to take over.

Andy is a genius! His drum and bass got a hole in their pocket. Go to wilson live, get yourself some fire under you. Its time:)

Sure was, but I think I heard Bill saying, "That ain't no part of my good bluegrass music!" Andy is, to use Duke Ellington's phrase, "beyond category!"

Bluegrass?? not in my book but he is one hell of a musician that has a vision all his own. Jazz based upon a Bill Monroe number.

Nice but not The Bluegrass Stomp.

No, clearly an interpretation of it (at least right until the last few notes). Mucho impressive, regardless.
