I'll have to leave most of the details about Sakura Gakuin to the people who follow them and know loads more than I do other than to say Amuse put the group together with about a dozen of the most talented girls they had on their books. They chose a school theme for the group, so as well as being a J-Pop Idol group it would also create the sort of environment where Amuse could train the girls in all manner of skills etc to prepare them for careers in show business (singing, dancing being the main ones I'd think, but also interviewing, modelling, acting and so on) - or whatever path they might choose to follow. With the school theme there were sub-units introduced like after school clubs, so as well as the main group songs (like this one) each sub-unit would also have their own themed songs and dances. Three or maybe a couple more of the girls would be in each sub-unit and some girls would be in more than one sub-unit (eg Yui and Moa were both in Mini Patti - the cooking club and Twinklestars - the baton club, as well as being in BABYMETAL, the heavy music club). The producer Kei Kobayashi had the idea for the heavy music club based entirely on Su's vocal talents, all out singing style and stage presence, so he asked her to be the lead for that club and, therefore, lead singer with BABYMETAL. For the J-Pop Idol aesthetics he wanted two girls to support her, dancing round her like angels, providing backing vocals etc. Yui and Moa were the smallest and youngest in the group at that time and were close friends as well as idolising Su (Yui in particular was a fan of Su and Ayami from their Karen Girl's days) so were the perfect fit. Anyway, I'm glad you did this, 'Song For Smiling' describes it perfectly, they just look like they're having the best time and Yui's happy dance after painting her hand print onto another girls chest (I can't remember exactly who that was) is hilarious.

It's fitting that we start getting Sakura Gakuin reactions on the day they announce they're disbanding. I love this song so much and the band has brought me so much happiness over the years. Their manager Koba, saw Su performing in her previous band "Karen Girl's" and thought she had the voice for his metal project. She joined Sakura Gakuin and BABYMETAL was started as a sub-group of SG. Yui and Moa were chosen as the youngest members who were good at dancing to be "like angels fluttering around" Su. Yui actually has the best story. When she was little she had family members in hospital, but she was too young to be allowed on the ward to visit, so she would sit in the waiting room listening to Karen Giels who were her favourite Idol group. She dreamt of performing with them. Su was her favourite member. She and Moa used a karen Girls song for their audition to join Sakura Gakuin. The song was called "Over The Future". Yui and Moa got to perform that song, with Su, at a BABYMETAL concert, making Yui's dream of performing Karen Girls song with her favourite member.

So the guy that had the origional idea to create a group mixing metal with Jpop was Key Kobayashi or Kobametal, he was a producer that had worked with metal bands in the past and was a huge fan of metal, but sadly at the time metal was not very popular in Japan, although there still was a scene it was very much over shadowed by Idol and Jpop. He was working at the time for Amuse talent agency in the kids division and when he heard Su singing with Karen Girls he knew he had found his lead singer. He origionally wanted twins for the other two but when he saw Moa and Yui he knew they would be perfect even though they weren't twins they were close enough, they also were very good dancers and had very similar voices that would fit well with Su. The other girls in SG also were doing side projects and nobody thought that Babymetal would become anything other than a sub group of SG just like the others (except maybe Koba). But all the girls are talented and if you watch enough SG you get to know them all by name (my current favourite is Shiratori Sana) This video was made in the second year When Su was Student Council President. The year before it was Ayami Muto who was another Karen Girls and then after Su it was Marina, the girl that has several solo parts in this song and then it was Moa's turn to lead, The current President is Kano who is the youngest of the Avengers, although she has just turned 16 and should have graduated back in the spring of this year but Covid prevented that from happening.There is a whole lot more to tell but instead I would like to share this with you www.reddit.com/r/SakuraGakuin/wiki/fukeiguide this is a ton of SG links that will explain a lot more than I can.

Your immediate smile says everything about SG. Two days ago they announced that SG would end on the 31st of August, 2021 after 10 years. So while this song usually makes me very happy, it made me cry today. The very first Sakura Gakuin single and PV is Hello! Ivy. Sakura Gakuin is J-Pop idol group owned/run by Amuse Entertainment that has a kind of school theme to it. It's a group for girls looking to have careers in the entertainment industry where they learn the ways of the business, and how to perform. The group is broken up into different clubs, and Babymetal was the metal club. There are other clubs, like the cooking club, among others. Members may switch between different clubs in their time in the group, although Su was only ever in the metal club. Yui and Moa were in different clubs while in the group, but we already know what club they found a permanent home in. It's for girls between the ages of 10-15, and once they reach 15 they graduate to go onto whatever career they want. Su actually graduated 2 years before the other two, but stayed in the club to continue with Babymetal. There is a video of her graduation speech available with English subtitles, and it's definitely worth a watch - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaHHkKqkjdtlopo I'll warn you though, there are many tears, especially from Moa, since I'm sure she expected that she wouldn't see Su again after her graduation. Sadly, they have just announced that they are disbanding. Amuse had a real gold mine going there. And, always remember Babymetal's "Big Sister" group...some little Amuse property known as Perfume. Sadly, Koba forgot what Nakata knew...all 3 girls (Kashiyuka, A-chan, and Nocchi) get equal billing. BTW, both Perfume and Babymetal had the same choreographer. @@papa_xan I have mixed feelings about Amuse. Perfume came out on top, but the other girls have had a tough go of things. They were grooming Su to be the next Utada or Ayu or Koda Kumi...at the expense of Yui and Moa...and that never sat well with me. Perfume had Nakata looking out for them, which is why they became superstars, but I do not trust Koba at all...he reminds me of the perv Otaku who put AKB48 together. BTW, wasn't Miku originally signed with Amuse, before she got dumped and formed BAND-MAID? Sadly, as with all pimps...I mean, producers...Japan is about the same as Korea and the US. Some good folks, but a lot of d-bags too.

If you look at the second time they show, the hand print on the shirt isn't there yet, and in the first shot, you can see both hand prints. Yui's happy dance + Nene's expression = hilarious! :D
