I will be 82 in a couple of months. I have been riding a 99 Softail Custom for the last 13 years. Rode an 84 Iron head Sportster for 23 years before that. My first Harley was a 1942 45 flat head when I was 14 in 1955. I am 6'1" and weigh 165. My daughter went to a Harley dealership to buy me a tee shirt. They asked her what size to get me. When she told them, she said to the other sales person, this girl wants a tee shirt for a bean pole. LOL I have a bad back and neuropathy in my feet. Riding seems to help both. I do not do long rides anymore. Just an hour or so around the back roads where I live mostly, and to the town a couple of miles away of only 7500 population. I started riding on a friends Pacemaker Whizzer motor bike when I was 8 years old. Lord willing and the creek don't rise I will keep riding for a while. Most of my riding is without a windshield and with a helmet and goggles. The pillow seat and buckhorn bars, and the forward controls make this bike as comfortable as sitting in my Lazy Boy recliner. Do not need a radio, I have open drag pipes. Been a motor head all my life. I still wear my leather jacket I bought at Montgomery Wards when I was 14. I took a girl for a ride on my 42 Harley when I was 15. We have been married for 63 years.

Mate, great advice. I'm 53. I started out doing the offiical Push-up Challenge 3 years ago, the one to raise awareness of mental health, That was around 3318 pushups over a 25 day period. When I started I could only do sets of 10. Myself and another decided to keep the challenge going. This year 4 of us are completing 3323 pushups each, over a 25 day cycle, for a 12 month period. The daily amount varies between 75-220. I now bang mine out in sets of 40. We are now in our 10th month. You are right that you need to do them, and general excercise, regularly. I have a busy lifestyle but still find time to do them. Once you're used to them you're doing about 1 pushup every 1-2 seconds. Everyone can find a spare 40-80 seconds in their day. Great topic and enjoying your channel.

Hi mate, Dave here... I'm 67 yrs old, been riding bikes since I was 17 yrs old, currently riding a Softail Slim S with the 110 Screaming Eagle engine (love it)... just watching your video, had a go at your push up challenge (stopped the video straight away and got down to it)... did 18 push ups, last one was struggling a bit. I used to be able to do 30 odd straight off when I was in my 50's, so I think I need a little practice... Your videos hit the mark I have to say and I enjoy watching them.

You just never know. About 7 years ago, I returned to my small hometown located in Northeast Arkansas. While there I ran into an old classmate. We were both 54 years old at the time of this meeting. He invited me to his home for an afternoon BBQ. About 5:00 pm on this day, after everyone was finished eating, I informed my buddy I had to head out because I live about 4 hours away. I pulled into my driveway at about 10:30 pm that night. When I entered my house, I had a message on the answering machine. It was my friend's sister calling to let me know my friend had a heart attack about an hour after I left and passed away. Like I say, you just never know when that last breath will occur.

Inspirational. Nice one. 60 old and 11. I’ve been working on weight loss and blood pressure. Gave up a big job last year (been a leader most of my working career) and blood pressure went from 170/115 to 118/78 in 12 months. Dropped weight, stopped alcohol, meditating and Mediterranean diet, with good sleep and no crap food. Core strength next. Currently working the spin bike daily for 30 minutes of high intensity. Your message is right. I’m feeling better, happier and starting to like people again. 😂 Oh, and most importantly, I’m getting in 2-3 good rides in weekly on my Harley. ‘Felxtirement’ Is a good place to be. 😎

Well ya got me! LOL I will be 70 this month...just did your challenge and did 30 pushups....full up and down to the floor with my chin and straight up...the 30th pushup was admittedly lame. All that being said, your comments have pointed out to me a concern for increasing decline and thanks to you and this video I am rethinking things! During an illness in early 2020 (my doc thinks it was covid) and all the covid lock downs I have been much less active ... two a half years ago I could do 65 pushups in a minute...so the reality is 30 now may seem good but it is all relative ...this a wakeup call as statistically I have lost over 50% in at short period of time. I bought a Softail Harley this summer...haven't ridden in almost 50 years and am loving my return to riding a motorcycle ..but like you want to ride if forever..or close to it. Now I'll go watch the rest of your video...after which i will then get off my duff and go for a hike! Thanks for the reality check!!

71 and counting here in Texas. You are right quality of life is important. I do a 55 minute HIT workout that includes, among other things, 100 push ups and light weight ass to the floor squats. I haven't been riding Harleys the last 4 years more about the cost than anything else. I am semi retired. Don't like riding old bikes so changing HD bikes every 2 or 3 years gets expensive. 44, had to have my lower spine bolted back together several years ago when a previously-undiagnosed birth defect finally broke down. Mobility loss and nerve damage prompted a career change to a desk job, and I've really let myself go. I'm just getting back into riding and that's motivation to take better care of myself (down 50lbs over the last 2 years). Getting up and down to the ground isn't my idea of a good time, but I gave you 20 inclined pushups off my work desk.

71 years old. I just did 5 pushups. I maybe could have gotten 1 or 2 more. I bought a 2010 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster four months ago. I bought the 883 because I didn't know if I could even ride a motorcycle after thirty five years of not riding. I've put 3,200 miles on it in less than four months! I think I can still ride! Also got back into marshal arts after a 20 year life happened. I have a Hell Cat as well, so a bit of a need for adventure ;) I also do car shows with the Hell Kitten over the summer and that is a lot of cleaning. 67 and I did 15 before my dog thought I wanted to play. Probably could do 5 more. I do a chin up challenge every year for my birthday. The goal is to do 10 on my birthday. I usually start about a month before. The chin up challenge is a lot harder, since most people can’t even do one. I mainly do them because my shoulder hurts when I ride after about an hour, and those chin ups help a lot.

Some fine KZbin doctors target the problem of sugar dependent snacker. And carbs are the next big enemy. Yes, awareness is the key to establish a balanced hatred for fake food. Good work! Keep it going! So 6 push ups is a start. I'll do it every day.

I will turn 67 in 3 weeks and I have kidney disease but, I still ride my Harley. Mine is a 2013 XL1200CP bought brand new in 2013 and this bike is just right for my size. I am not a big guy (145 pounds & 5' 10" tall) and I know my limitations. It is very comfy with the upgraded suspension (Progressive front & rear) and the Mustang saddle seat. All the upgrades I have done makes this my ultimate ride. Being a 1200, it is the biggest bike I have ever owned. I had a 750 before this. I can ride for 200 miles with no problem before my kidneys tell me to rest. I did park it for 3 years and almost sold it but, I am glad I didn't. Bike has almost 23,000 miles on it now. I plan on riding as long as I can!

Hi Paul a big hello to you too. 11 is a great start!! Yes B vitamins help with energy. I eat very low carb and I find that pink salt gives a big boost (low carb means you don't hold salt) so lots of varianles to explore
@paulnicholls2921
@paulnicholls2921 Жыл бұрын
We have a pretty good balanced diet, Mediterranean style. Lots of fresh stuff. But hardly any salt. Just been reading up and looks like previous concerns over blood pressure etc from high salt intake may be in question. We generally use sea salt if anything. Not much pink salt here but it was all the place in NZ. I’m going to try adding a bit more to my daily intake. Another Aussie mate is telling me about the benefits of papaya leaf. I’ll be trying that too. I dropped and got 14 in today.
@OldNotDead-Club
@OldNotDead-Club Жыл бұрын
@@paulnicholls2921 lol that was an easy improvement. You only need salt if you are low carb. I do it via taste, if a half teaspoon tastes too salty i have enough, if it verges on being ok then i need it. Takes a while to get used to but seems to work.
@paulnicholls2921
@paulnicholls2921 Жыл бұрын
Haha! Yes, it would look like that. But to be fair, without doing any real exercise I keep reasonably fit. We live on a sailing boat and it goes with the territory. I read that in the U.S. 1 teaspoon of salt is the recommended daily max. I don’t use a fraction of that. And with the climate here we drink a lot, water and booze, so that may lead to minerals being flushed out more quickly. Anyway, the B complex seems to be helping. You got 2 sets of 10 so far and it’s only mid afternoon. 😉

Hi there, so I just bought my first bike. It's a Harley, good shape and a steal. So, I bought it, it needed a few upgrades that I would find useful. New tire, forward controls, apes and crash bar. So, I haven't learned how tom ride yet, but very soon. (I'm excited, a little scared) I'm 32 so I'm getting a late start. I'm obese. I'm just a tad below or right at 400 pounds. Now, I think different of most fellas my age. But, I see Harley's like muscle cars. Rockets are like tuners. Each their own. But, long story short. Be happy, be hard to kill and do what you want. Also, you can say fuck all you want. Love the content!

I know some highly skilled guys who died both on different types of bikes with one of them a certified AMA racer who went through multiple courses to get certified. The other guy had years of experience on his Harley. I was totally shocked and never would have thought that these two guys would die riding. Some stuff is just out of your control so all you can do is try minimize your exposure to unforeseen accidents and surprises. The racer went not going exceptionally fast. A elderly lady back into traffic and my buddy was in the right lane never had a chance to avoid it. The Harley rider got cutoff on the freeway and rear ended a stoped car in the emergency lane. He also had no time to react. I miss both of them they were my riding buddies!

Actually I died in 1982, twice. But it wasn’t on my Harley, it was in a car. I hit another car like mine at Tynong North Victoria, we were both doing 100kph. The prop shafts were found 500m apart. It took me years to recover and my wife was told I would not live the night. Then she was told if I did live, I’d be a vegetable, then it became hell never walk again. Well, i’m still here. And it was tough, but after that I managed major construction sites worth a $billion and worked in a number of countries. I live in chronic pain, but I live. And it’s good. I sailed a yacht from QLD to Greece with my mate and another guy. I’m on my second Harley and I’m not done yet. You’re dead if you give up, but I’m not dead until I say I’m dead. Life is for enjoying, so get out there and live it.

I see a lot of foolish behavior on motorcycles, some of the main reasons are MC clubs where people hang out drinking, smoking dope, then riding away jacked up. Then you got people riding or trying to ride HD's like sports bikes which they're not designed for. Harley Davidson's are not performance machines, they are hot air cooled, low-end power, 1950's/1960's tech bikes. Last is that most people over ride their ability in addition to having a bike to big for them.

Well hell, don't you just hate when someone quantifies health rather than allow a sort of wink and a nod, "I feel great." I'm 68, had a heart attack 7 years ago, and can only do 6 push ups. I used to be able to do 30. It's been so long that I'm shocked how few I could do. I recently sold my 550 pound BMW K75 motorcycle, in part, because it was heavy and cumbersome. I bought a Himalayan to ride on the dirt and gravel roads here in the mountains of Central Pennsylvania but being 150 pounds lighter it was pretty nice. And between my Vespa scooters and embracing smaller, lighter motorcycles I plan to ride as long as I can. I've met a few of those 90 year old riders but I can't help but think there's a lot of genetics and mental toughness at work. I've also seen riders give it up the moment they can't manage their 900 pound bike rather than downsize. Another failing, stubborn approach. Anyway, I really appreciate you taking the time and doing the research to make this video. I've been planning some men's health stuff for my channel but keep thinking it sounds like I'm whining about getting old. I'll figure it out!
