Traded an Ist rune for a perfect Vipermagi (35 All Res and 12 Magic Damage Reduction) yesterday. Socketed that armor and my Harlequin Crest with Sol runes just like the video. Also running two Nagelrings which have Magic Damage Reduction. I decided to max Telekinesis (for a bit more DR) and do 4 hard points into Energy Shield like OSGS suggests. I can confirm with that setup that you are basically "immortal" just like in the video. My resists are in the 50+ range at the moment, and will approach perfect as soon as I get a sorceress torch and make a few optimizations to my charms. This build is really fun and removes all the anxiety from accidentally teleporting into packs of monsters, which makes for a bigger deal than you might think. All of my farming is now extremely chill and relaxed, and my Blizzard is still strong enough to basically one-shot everything.

This was a really good idea actually.. been playing with my blizz sorc since start, and made this change. Only thing is that I have not yet gotten the reduced dmg, but I am kinda surprised how tanky this is, even without reduced dmg.

memory(LumIoSolEth) has +3sorc +3energy shield. if your base staff has +3energy shield you get a level 9 energy shield WITHOUT PUTTING ANY POINTS INTO IT. it also gives you a level 5 static field. this way you can save 2 skill points, get a higher energy shield and it is also dirt cheap (at least when you build it into a plain base staff, or one that has +1cold armor to save another skill point. the dream would be a 4 socket staff with +3 energy shield +x cold armor. this item would be super valuable and is the reason why i pick up every single grey staff to have a look at.) if only you could equip that and cta at the same time...i would also consider to replace spirit with lidless wall. this way you can save alot of status points since you dont need barb like strength levels for more energy and lidless also has +10% max mana. i could go on forever, like fcr and fhr caps...sry bro, i dont consider this a good or complete guide, but some pointers.

If anything its a nice tool to test out how good a build can become like he does here, but it generally takes a lot of time of playing to get to this kind of gear.

You can use memory runeword and save even more points by not picking energy shield and reaching 75% with only your gear. Btw you should try nova build, it’s really fun and clear super fast, I’m loving it right now.

Be careful with this build because the mana burners will get rid of your entire mana in an instant! After that, if somebody spits on you, you die. You don't need to put all points on energy. I find that at around 700 mana or so, the mana barely moves already. Dump some points on vitality.

I see what your saying and that is a way to go but it's not an "Immortal Sorc" you just can't achieve being a super tank. Honestly 2k mana is likely the bare minimum and scratching the surface. Of course you want a lot of block and as much damage reduction as possible too. You can always throw on some small life charms (till you get the build perfect) but in the true end build to achieve "Immortal" status you want mana and more mana with as much Warmth and regen as possible. Going from 2k mana too 2500 starts to be an exponential gain in tankyness due to the synergy of the build and where you won't ever use mana pots again. This guy does a great job on his vids with information but just needs some better gear/charms. Only true Immortal sorc vid I seen the guy had 4k mana which is really where you want to be and was actually tanking with only 1 hp to showcase being Immortal. Literally won't ever die which is how the build got it's name.

I love this build. I'm currently playing hardcore in season 2. Now we have sundered charms and blizzard is stronger than ever. My goal is to replicate this build but add on a bit more cold res to counteract the sunder charm. Hopefully I won't rip first!

As i'm sure you are aware people were doing this back when d2 was new, for the longest of time maxing res+dmg reduction was the norm. Virtually every class used some combination of string/gaze/storm/harly/shaft before the rune words made it faster to kill going for all out attack and before people figured out better builds for pure killing where you dont need defence as you just kill everything too fast.

Not possible. You can re-roll affixes on rares, and upgrade the base armor for defense or weapon for damage but that's it unless they add it in.

You have to put glacier needle on 'left mouseclick' At the time blizzard got cooldown you can cast another skill at least 2 times I'm not sure if you are serious about this :D Good luck Peace

Although you call this immortal build I don't think this is HC viable. I'm a HC player and I would be afraid this would eventually die to teleport into manaburn + fana or might aura. The real immortal sorc uses HP pool and stormshield. That said I would definitely see this is a great build for SC players who want to level up and not to die too often.

Skipp quests with immune enemys and level in desert. And open up later a game where u can get carried with duriel. And then you can continue leveling up. The important thing is to level up in areas where the enemies don't have a ice immunity . Do cow levels :)

You should try immortal Fire Wall.... don't need as much gear and warmth is part of the build. I'm 72 and doing it on single player, running players 5 and melting all the act bosses on NM with VERY budget gear. I do have the shield, which made my mind up to make this build, but I'm still sporting some blue gear and it works like a charm. Gonna need some more items before Hell level though.

Love the explanation of the damage reduction options for Sorceress but alas this strategy is wasted with a proper blizzard play style which involves kiting through your blizzard and not face tanking. Plus, once you get a CTA your survivability is virtually ensured. My sorc has 1300 mana with nothing into energy. 1 point into telekinesis and energy shield. Everything after blizzard synergies into cold mastery. Build is complete at level 91. Your energy shield strat is best for a melee sorc but I love the analysis. Great video.

In one of the numerous bugs they never fixed mana burn enemies damage is bugged and scales up to ridiculous degree as difficulty goes up and they wind up doing like 10x the damage they're supposed to.

knowing how dmg mitigation via ES works and what telekinesis actually provides in that regard... in almost every aspect of the game you suffer from dimishing returns in one way or another. NOT regarding TK and ES. each point spend in TK actually is even more valueable than the one before. stopping at 16 is pure blasphemy.

I think that one improvement is to use a couple of Vulpine items with 7-12% damage taken to mana or Ith rune on armor with 15% damage to mana. I believe that in this case you first getting hit and even mana burned but some mana should be added instantly and Energy shield remains still active. But might be wrong nor sure.

When(If?) bliizzard fix the mana burn bug these immortal sorc builds would shine even brighter. In the presence of posion damage however even then it probably makes sense to calculate the right balance between vitality and energy investments. All to energy investment feels a little bit risky.

Soloing P8 mephisto is trivial with any sorc build if you know the moat trick. You can use firewall or blizzard. I think build shines in places like trav or chaos sanctuary. The mana burn mobs are indeed a problem, I myself am curious about Respec'ing because of the mana burn bug

You die. That's why mana-shield builds aren't terribly popular. IDK how people are unaware of how this game works - it's 20 years old. Even if you've never played this game before, it isn't like the internet was suddenly wiped of all diablo material. All these cobbled builds have me giving a serious "WTF" look to my computer screen.

It used to be that resistances are applied after the energy shield amount is calculated, so getting your resists above 0% was nowhere near as important, other than for conviction aura, which might allow you to shift a bit more towards better offensive damage gear - or did they change that in D2R?

Swap that useless belt and 10% fcr ring for an arachnid mesh to reach 105 fcr breakpoint and soj for way more mana and more +skills. 20 + 30 + 35 = 85 fcr What's the point of 10 fcr more? Breakpoints are 63 and 105. Arachnid mesh is just way way better.

Gotta do a few hundred nm meph runs to get the gear so you can survive several hundred hell meph runs. Also you might wanna consider making a hybrid light and fire or cold sorc for hell countess so you can get high runes and trade em for whatever you don't find yourself

Miss the old skill system where synergies weren't a thing. All you needed was frozen orbs and cold mastery. Hybrid builds were viable and I used to add nova just for the faster cow clearing. Or maybe I miss being a teenager.

Why is CTA not mentioned in this build / video I feel like that is the most important item to discuss. Is the mana from battle orders additive or multiplicative with magefist? 70% mana and HP changes things quite a bit.

He is not using torch, anni, coh, hoto or death fathom, and no cold gcs. He is just showcasing the viability of the build with basic sorc gear, you can upgrade it however you want

Yes nice video! Also try this build with more mana. E.g wizzy as you said it’s best choise. Boots with mana fhr res mf, 2x soj, Cham shako, viper is solid, I think arachnid is essential and frostburn. Then you need mix charms life/res and cold sks or light if you go nova to boost your dmg. Also I think merc is decent and you can play with a lot of gear, e.g. bone skull 2soc with ias res stuff like that!

71% of damage taken by mana and 29% taken by life. About a third of this goes back to mana so 8%. So in the end you take 21% damage to life (minus resistances and DR & MDR) and 63% to mana. That's exactly like 2 more points into Telekinses (which I would rather max out, since you get more benefit toward the end with each point)

But doesn't sound enough to counter any manaburn (if it's even applied in the order that would bring any use for countering manaburn at all). I'm thinking about -> getting hit by manaburn -> mana gets burned -> dmg gets taken -> mana gets generated by %damage to mana .. not sure if that's the order though

With negative resists and MF in every slot, 700hp still do Andariel and Meph with the Council members before him reliably. The only problems are: blizzard is kind of random and sometimes doesn't kill instantly and cold imunes that zoom around with 100 km/h aren't easy to target by firewall

Treachery and insight are pretty easy to get, honestly very easy to get an elite none eth insight and treach. Just run any lifesteal helm over.. be it vgaze talrasha crown of thieves...

Would this be good on a low/poorly geared sorceress? Or is this only viable with lots of +skills? I haven't even found Shako or Vipermagi or any good amulets or helms, only spirit on sword and shield. OR is this build dependent on huge +skills?

Blizz isn't too reliant on +skills, no. It would help for speed on larger bosses like meph/baal/wave5 baal for pure speed but as low as 2-3k blizz can viabley clear hell.

If you are lower on gear, id skip energy shield and max out blizzard and its synergies. Tons of damage, just have to kite. Even on cows, glacial the ones closes to you and blizzard all. Rinse and repeat. Blizzard honestly is easy with almost no gear.

I wonder how a radiance helm would synergize with this build. It has both dmg and mag dmg reduction with 15% dmg goes to mana so whatever does come through refills mana 🤔🤔🤔

Unfun fact: the higher your energy shield level, the less useful that "percent dmg goes to mana" is. It takes the final dmg that your hp orb takes after all dmg reductions and after energy shield, and throws it over to the mana orb, but the energy shield subtracts your mana at the very end, and its calculation ignores your resistances, so a big enough hit or a small hit from a mana burn monster will always empty your mana orb even with dmg goes to mana, and the more resists and damage reductions you have, the less mana you get from dmg goes to mana. Apparently if you have a lvl27 energy shield which is 82%, you'd need 342% dmg taken goes to mana at lvl 20 telekinesis to offset the hit your mana takes, assuming 0 resists and 0 dmg reductions. If you have higher resists or dmg reductions your need even more.

You are wrong about -100% cold res being 100 % more dmg. Actually going from 0% to - 100% does 4 times the damage. Each -25% on enemy is 100% more dmg. And that's why cold mastery is so powerful. So depending on particular enemy (e.g. meph hell has 65% cold Res) actually you would do more dmg by investing more points to mastery than to synergy skills.

Ive seen that build and its op in d2r. Its a firewall sorc. Only good synergy is warmth. Go telekensis and es. Stand there as you take 0 damage and they burn standing in your firewall

Firewall is the best because the 500% mana regen makes it so that you can't die. His sorc is a tank not immortal. My firewall immortal sorc does ubers without a merc if that says anything at all.

Honestly from scratch, you aren't gonna have any fun leveling as a sorc.. but the start is very easy and by 24, you can use blizzard, I'd suggest firewall build with leaf prior.. maybe even until ur 30s. Firewall is an insanely powerful skill.

The ice tree isn't great for leveling and running through the game. It's technically viable, but slow and harder. Also, dumping all your points into mana and none into vitality will allow most things to one shot you before you get energy shield. Def not recommended to start with something to respect into later on when you have some better gear and the points to spend

Isn't Magic Damage Reduction referring to actual Magic-type damage (bone spear from Claw Vipers, Bone Spirit from Oblivion Knights, etc.), not Elemental damage? Edit: read the wiki, it does include Elemental Damage

Nope, the magic damage is count to fire / cold / lighting... maaaybe poison. The only thing what can make magic damage reduc i think its a crafted ring or amulet what can have i think 8% magic dmg reduction thats can reduc real magic dmg
