Thank you to Paul Components (‪@PaulComponentEngineering‬), Chris King (‪@chriskingbuzz‬) and Oury Grips for the awesome purple bits to adorn what I have to say is my favorite frame customization I have done so far. I love the effect the super blue has on the raw steel frame, even with my amateur brazing on the disk brake mount. For similar awesome parts check out my friends below:

It's such a cool idea to use gun bluing to color a bike! Such a neat affect, it really gives it a deep, smooth gun metal look, which is gorgeous against the shiny steel of the lettering and symbols. Absolutely gorgeous build like always!

And the cheapest handlebars and seat available. With how much everything else costs I imagine those were the cuts that had to be made. When I do bikes like this I keep in mind how much anyone would actually pay in the end vs the cost to build. This one would most likely loose money as in my area no one would pay anymore than $400 for it.

I was just starring at one of mine the other day and thinking of something to put on the bar end after I had to remove it to install a new BOX brake perch/lever. For others that don't know, they are really soft, so its easy to poke a hole in them at the ends.

I don’t have anything witty or deep, but u came correct with this build! I started seriously cycling in 2002, if I saw this rig on the trail I would have stopped to give respect.....and still would today.

Awesome, and the anodized purple parts look fantastic against the Blued frame. Inspired choices brother, God Bless you and yours, from me and mine, in UK. Ignore the web experts who poo poo the Gun Blue. Under that clear coat it will last just as long as any other "paint" finish. Im about to Blue the stantions on a cheap old, rusty set of forks, on my daughters bike, which is what led me here, and I am so very glad I did. Wonderful.

Wish there was more history behind the bike. Or info. Are these parts someone wanted on? All the purple different brands? Did they just want purple?
@Sokolva

Most of his other bike restorations are personal projects or gifts/donations to the community, and he has past episodes in which he restored and colored some of these parts purple. For the new purple parts, he talks about who gave them to him in the description. He has mentioned and shown in other videos that he often will go to second hand shops and flea markets to look for old bikes and old bike parts, and will take them apart and restore the parts that can be restored. This bike was likely picked up in a similar manner, though I agree that it would be cool to learn the specifics of how all these parts came together!

@@Sokolva yeah husselfelt stem, Paul brakes,king headset prolly cost more than the frame lol. Wake bars? Race face cranks, thos cheap grips, Wth? Idk im just curios as this is probably one of the best ones I've seen just not too knar on the paint job but the bike is a great choice. Just makes me wonder did someone want this. Parts are hard to find in color right now. Is that why they don't match? Just curious

17:16 this is why I don't like 1 bys. The people that go to "1 by" (referring to the cog/gears in front) don't know what a 2x and 3x system is for. The gears are good on this build on the biggest gear in the rear, but the farther you go through them, the rougher/louder the shifting. The purpose of a 2x and 3x system is to keep your chain straight. The 1x system you have obviously has the chain straightest in the biggest gear on the rear. You will wear out your gears/cog and chain and have chain breaks with the 1x system. For those that don't understand (don't worry, the majority of the community- from professional racers to youtubers to even the mechanics and bike shop employees, have no clue how to properly shift gears on a bike): Cheaper bikes come with a 3x or 2x system- (3 gears up front and any number of different numbers of gears on the rear). People that don't understand how bike gears work just multiply those 2 numbers and say they have that many gears, but that isn't correct. All those gear combinations are not meant to be used (anytime you see a video talking about how their bikes gears have the same ratios, you know that person doesn't know how to shift properly), yes you can use them, but you will end up damaging your bike if you use them in an unintended fashion. Bike gears are more akin to big rig semi gears (commercial trucks) than a manual transmission on a non commercial vehicle. with a cheap 3x system, you should never have to replace a chain or damage the cogs/gears if you use it properly. They are made to last forever. That was the purpose of the cheap 3x system in the first place- to give you more gears, but also to keep from damaging your bike. On a 3x system with 8 gears on the rear (24 speed): Front Rear 1---------------------1-3 2----------------------3-6 3----------------------6-8 So keep your left (front) gear in 1 until you get to gear 3 on the right shifter. Then switch on the front (left) shifter to 2, and go from 3 to 6 on the right shifter, then once you are in sixth gear, again switch on the left shifter to gear 3 and progress through the gears on the right shifter until you get to 8. Then do everything in reverse when downshifting. Honestly on my bike, I never use most gears, as I find a comfortable gear and stick to it, riding around on flat ground, but I have hills and mountains that require gears sometimes so its good to have the option. If I am just riding around town I normally keep it in a single gear and never shift. As long as your chain isn't too far in a bind, making noises or dropping, you can get away with not following this exactly on your bike, but its a good rule of thumb to prevent damage and breaking your chain. On the 1x system in the video, you can hear about half way through from the top (biggest cog) to the smallest cog on the rear, that it gets loud and clunky. Anyone that rides that bike in the gears past the halfway point for any period of time will end up damaging the cogs, dropping chains and eventually breaking the chain. Yes 3x systems are heavier, but the majority of the population don't need a thousand dollar 1x system that is lighter for racing purposes. I would rather have something that will last forever when used properly than something a few ounces lighter. Blog ended.
