It's true. And in earlier times it was even worse. Times were incredibly dangerous for the Rom diaspora during the Third Reich, and in the centuries before that there were bloody instances of anti-Rom persecution throughout Europe. It was as dangerous as being Black or Muslim or Latino in the USA in the 21st century.
