Man, I love Usyk's deep straights. There are a few very notable Danish boxers who perfected the deep straight, and performed exceptionally well. I had the great joy of seeing my father's VHS taped fights when I was young, so I particularly remember that about them.

I watched this analysis when it was first released 3 years ago and I felt for Usyk's opponents; their futility and despair. From the analysis, there's no solution to him, everywhere the opponent turns, he's gored. I held a healthy respect for him after watching this analysis and predicted he would beat AJ and Fury because both are limited boxers compared to Usyk. Now - the undisputed Heavyweight Champion!

Yes very, by using his whole body on every movement he distributes the energy so can relentlessly continue without fatigue. (like trackshoes over soft ground compared to wheels). Which also allows him to hit/move through straight lines so no joint take the brunt of the force so he doesn't waste energy contracting muscles from possible misses

Read Daniel Mendoza's book. He's a legendary Middleweight Champion that became Heavyweight Champion while still 160lbs in the 1700's. It's a really brief easy read. He breaks down how to cover the jaw and different parts of the face, how to protect the body, and counter punch from it. He doesn't call it the cross guard, he calls it barring punches but he describes the cross guard, pivots, and shoulder roll perfectly and says the cross guard/barring is his favorite method and the best style in his opinion. You can find digital copies of his book on Google for free all over the place. This Channel already has a cross guard video and there are plenty of other good ones out there too. You should check out Boxing Genius TV's cross guard video. We all share tips and our experiences using the cross guard in the comments.
