This was an amazing routine that she brought for the 76 games. As a matter of fact, it was the hardest of her career! It was overlooked because of Nadia's perfection and innovation but it was a good evolution from her famous one from 72. She was the 1st to connect her Korbut flip with a back handspring on balance beam. Basically all her routines brought something new but she was overshadow and also she got injured in the games and her routines was downgraded. For example, she had a double back in her floor exercise on the team finals but she only perform it once because of this. Beautiful nonetheless as always from Olga.

How graceful she was.. But I want to remind it was not only her beautiful manner alone (despite incredible incredible talent) also but also a result of her environment regarding this subject of grace - the arts (composition, ballet etc) were truly vibrant and highly developed in USSR but this grace was part of the training specifically to USSR gymnastics also! See her preparations on film. I like Korbut’s words at 28 minutes “what a beautiful gymnast you suddenly are!... you must do it beautifully.. you need to feel love and then your performance will be better” - in our times the emphasis on grace and beauty is lost in gymnastics. kzbin.info/www/bejne/paexZpxmqK2Ap5Y

前宙一回ひねり 初めて見ました。 素晴らしい演技です。 確か銀メダル獲得。 ミュンヘンの花の異名は伊達じゃない。 このときも凄く可愛らしい。 後方宙返りを成功させています。 この技、後にコマネチも挑戦していましたが、彼女も人の子。 成功例は見たことありません。

That was probably a key factor for Olga during this beam performance She is about to begin while Nadia is killing it on the floor exercise How do you concentrate while crowd is focused on Nadia ? the cheering and commotion must have been a factor for lack of concentration, yikes!
