Olight Arkfeld Ultra vs. Sandpaper & Thoughts about OAL

In this video we check out the new Olight Arkfeld Ultra and put it to the test against some gritty sandpaper. This light is made of a strong aluminum alloy known as OAL. It not only looks great in my opinion, but it offers superior durability when compared with the industry standard aluminum alloy.

It's weird they changed the strobe to double-click and turbo to triple-click. If you want to change it back to the way every other Olight works (double-click for turbo / triple-click for strobe): hold the button for a few seconds to activate lockout, then click eleven times and hold until a mutli-flash signal. This will change it to "normal" Olight operation of double-click for turbo / triple-click for strobe. Hope that's helpful.

That arkfeld looks really nice, especially that texture. I'd call that color Spartan 117 lol. It will be interesting to see what other lights get the O-aluminum treatment.

You definately need a thumbs up for sanding the Arkfeld Ultra!! ..and the grit is very gritty! I would soak it in Apple Cider Vinegar. for a week.

You can change strobe. lick the light out, press the button 10 times hold the button on the tenth press, the light should blink twice. Unlock the phone and it should be double click for turbo and triple click fir strobe.

Thank you for another great review. The only thing that can make this flashlight better is a user replaceable battery. Otherwise it all ends up in the trash.

I would love to see an Arkfeld that takes two 14500s or 10440s. The non replaceable battery is the only negative for me personally.

I think it's a metal extracted from ore by some kind of smelting technique.hence the "OAL" for Ore Aluminum.?. Something to make it harder that's why it's so hard to engrave and they had to change all their machines lol.. I may be totally wrong though 😂

Aluminum is mostly extracted from bauxite, in this instance O just stands for Olight meaning it’s not a standard grade or if it is they’re not publishing which.

@@tjp148 Probably. I'm no metal expert lol. I remember seeing on another videos someone was claiming that its mixed with a type of metal to make it more durable, similar to Titanium but not as durable as titanium. I'm assuming it's good since they ain't going to give their secret out 🤔😁

Good question. I think I forgot to mention in the video: 4 mins before gradual step down to 30% brightness for an additional 121 minutes, if I’m reading the manual correctly.

For those who don’t use sandpaper much in their lives…. 80 grit is VERY coarse. This isn’t about simply abrading at that level, 80 grit is removing material. This would remove surface material on hardened steel. This is not a good example of wear & tear on an aluminum flashlight. Holy crap 😂

Yes, this was not to mimic wear and tear but to test OAL. I was very impressed that only the oxidized surface seems to have been effected. Crazy stuff and I hope they make more lights with it
