Bought the Trustfire MC1 couple years ago and still use it every day. A true underdog that is highly underrated imo. Less than half the price of the olight baton III and very robust. Dropped it loads of times but just keeps chugging along. Nice uniform light as well, even more uniform than the olight baton TWO, though cannot speak of this gen three. It has all the bells and whistles the olight has too, like magnetic tail and magnetic charging. Same power in terms of lumens as the baton two, same size and even a tad lighter at 49 grams. Also, the olight two used to drop from turbo into lower mode after just a minute or so, while the mc1 burns at least a couple minutes b4 dropping down.

I have Baton 3 and I absolutely love this thing! You can see and feel the premium this light comes with. If you can get behind the cost which can be a bit more than some other similar lights this size on market, you set yourself up for proper edc light without disappointment at all. Everything feels so great about it. Ps: moonlight mode is awesome and there's so many situations where it's just "perfect"

@Brandon Pausta I checked my manual and the "WARRANTY *** Baton 3 Wireless Charger: Two Years." So I would contact customer service and request a replacement. Mine have been fine although I did get a charging case on which one of the indicator lights did not function properly. IIRC I took a short video showing this. They replaced it and they have all been working fine since then. Perhaps I should note that despite the malfunctioning indicator light, the charging case would actually work.

I enjoyed the review. You mentioned the medium 60 level lasting for 7.5 hours which would be a good level if one had a long hike at night. I just thought I would point out that if the light was not fully charged or the hike was longer than that, one could continue with the Baton 3 in the case, as it will stay lit. In other words pass through charging works. That also works with higher levels too, but I think it is better to be careful. It is only recently that the Baton 3 was used less for my EDC as I have been carrying the Olight Perun 2 mini neutral white right angle light/headlamp [1.9 oz w battery]. One thing that makes the Perun 2 mini NW such an excellent EDC, besides its usefulness in sitting it around as a light, is that one does not have to remove the clip to use it in the headband [1.2 oz] as a headlamp. I use the timer function on both of these flashlights. I am hoping that Olight will produce a charging case for the Perun 2 mini, that will also accommodate the Baton 3, and act as a powerbank. That would be a lot more convenient than using the Baton 3 and its charging case to charge the battery and then switch batteries. Plus the powerbank feature, as another commented desired, would make it a must carry.

The largest Achilles heel of this setup is that the charging case has no way to charge other devices (e.g.; phone) in a pinch. That ability would up it's edc practicality significantly, as it would allow the 'going-minimal' option of leaving the dedicated powerbank brick at home on shorter jaunts.

@donaldstrader7241 Жыл бұрын
@@floppinfish Yes, C to C charging for the charging case itself works. I just plugged it in, after reading your question, and the red charging light comes on. A good question as I have had this issue with some other devices that want USB A to C, but will not work with USB C to USB C. The Olight O'Pen2 will also work USB C to USB C and it has a very small battery, so obviously the ability is a design/firmware issue which can be handled. The Olight Gober emergency light/flasher will not work USB C to USB C, it requires USB A to USB C.

My other head lamps that I use are way to bright. Even with the red light on my head lamp. This baton 3 at 1/2 lumen. Is going to be perfect. But still has the brighter settings if I need them.

Great review - I like this flashlight so much I bought 2, orange and black both with the charging case. Looks like you’re sporting a Garmin Instinct Solar in graphite camo, which is what I’m wearing as I type this. Another flashlight to consider for a review is the Olight Warrior mini 2, which is probably the best overall flashlight I’ve ever had. It’s a bit large for EDC at least in the summer, but with the reversible pocket clip, tail-switch and side switch, is extremely flexible for overall use.

Happy Saturday Jon. I am but a cheapskate & use a simple single AAA battery 5 Lumens LED Duracell "Voyager" as my Flashlight if by any chance I need one in addition to the LED on my default EDC keyring 58mm Midnite Manager knife . It has no keyring but its a flashlight that I only ever carry in my pocket if I will be coming home very late at night. Off Topic but might interest you because you are an Aficionado of the 91mm Compact. I decided to give the Compact another chance & add it to my EDC rotation after I removed the 'boring' red front scale & replaced it with a Royal Blue front scale, I left the red Plus back scale intact but replaced the toothpick with the Firefly ferro rod, added a tinder spiral & mini-screwdriver to the corkscrew & replaced the large split ring with the small split ring that I prefer on all my SAK's and put on it a green nylon cord / black SAK logo bead. I must say it looks quite handsome as a Bi-Colored Gentleman's pocket knife & I carry it either in an artificial leather pocket slip or in the ticket/coin pocket of my Jeans.

I just purchased this combo in the U.S. on "Black Friday" sale, for 65.99, just like getting the charging case for me. The only negative I can think of is.........It would have been nice if they had included a pouch with a belt loop to fit the charging case. As is, it's too big to go comfortably in your pocket. I don't know how often you would possibly need it all, but I'm the kind of person, if it has the charger, I want it with me. It shouldn't be hard to find a codura case with a belt loop though.. I'm betting there are going to be cases coming out shortly, that will hold it all...Great Review, Thank you....

Very nice light and set up, I do wish the 188650 in the charge case could be user replaced. I guess size is why they used the18650 vs 21700, the 700 would have been outstanding as far as power reserve. Also wish the baton itself had a non proprietary battery. An 18350 would have been ideal. Hi Jon, Is it safe and reasonable to leave the light in the charging case with the charging case plugged in continuously when not in use? Some of my other devices that use Li-Ion cells recommend periodically topping them off/depleting them monthly ot qiartetly. Seems a bit of a hassle when one owns multiple lights/batteries. Very nice review. I was lucky enough to win a Baton 3 in blue when Olight Germany did sort of a giveaway on KZbin. I used an SR2 Baton 2 before in my nightshifts as a nurse and now I use the Baton 3 for both private and work use mostly. The magnetic bottom is great to put it on metal parts of a bed and let it shine to the ceiling so I don't need to turn on the big lights and got my hands free. And the tailstand itself is rock solid as well. One may dislike Olight for using proprietary batterys or being pricy, but I use their lights a lot and they never let me down. Thank you for the video!

It worked on the bill of my cap just fine a couple of times I tried it. Never went jogging with it though. All I can say is that it worked using it as an improvised headlamp while walking around my yard at night, allowing me to avoid spider webs and such. I have a lot of headlamps so I do not normally use it that way, but I like having the option and it has worked well when I have used it. It is also very comfortable to use it that way. I have tried larger models which also work on the bill of a cap, but they are not as comfortable. As for use on hats which are more protective, they do not generally have a stiff bill like a cap and I have not yet experimented on trying to get that to work.

Hi GatCat, thank you for your feedback. The two flashlights you mention use 18650 batteries and are much larger and cannot really be compared like-4-like. A value for money review is probably what you are looking for. Fixated or focussed? I agree Olight are putting effort into KZbin marketing. I would also argue they have confidence in their products if they are keen to push them out out for review. They did not influence my review and I choose what flashlights I review from them.
