For most folks, a compact floodlight EDC torch is the most useful since floodlights illuminate a large general area which means, we, as users, don't have to aim precisely - just turn it on, and a huge zone in front of us lights up letting us do those common EDC flashlight tasks - things like looking under the couch for something, or lighting up the path right in front of us when walking at night.
But EDC floodlight beam-type torches typically don't throw their beams very far, and so, when we have use-cases that require us to see things at a distance, a spotlight is what we need. The Javelot series of torches from OLight have been gigantic, making them really impractical for carrying on-person for most people (generally reserved for on-weapon mounting, or professional use-cases like paramilitary, first-responders, and search & rescue).
The Olight Javelot Mini really makes a long-distance-throwing light feasible for most people - easily pocketable (especially in a jacket or hoodie pocket), yet blasts a beam up to 600 meters or 1,969 feet, which is incredible for its small footprint.
I do NOT think this light is for everyone - if you don't have a flashlight yet, I definitely recommend most people start with a compact flood-style EDC torch, but if you go camping, or, need a flashlight for emergencies to leave in the car, this light should be a serious contender (and obviously, if you require a long-distance beam throw for your job - this is a no-brainer as a backup torch).
