Don’t think they forget as much as they try to avoid. Deeper desks are more expensive to purchase and require more office space so it makes the office space more expensive for the same amount of people with smaller desks.

Agreed. I’ve been at a desk 40-60h per week since 2013. If anybody tells me they don’t need a deep desk, I just say “you ain’t been working long enough. You will” 😂 Resting your elbows on your chair can only get you by so long.

may I ask what is the best desk height compared to my body so that I could sit comfortably? I've heard that I should have one which I can have my shoulder-elbow-hand almost at 90°, is that the correct way to determine the height of fixed desk? I also need to draw too so does the desk needs to be higher?

If you work from home, even if just a couple days a week, splashing out on an ergonomic chair is a must. I started having a nerve issue in my upper back so my employer got me a better chair where you can adjust *everything* and it made me realise how bad my chair at home is for my back.

The Logitech K380 keyboard is an amazing budget alternative for the ones shown in the video. It costs approximately $40 and fulfills all the needs for a minimal and highly functional desktop. The construction is good, with excellent adherence, and the key resistance is just perfect. For desktop audio in my country (Chile), there are very few alternatives under $100 with good overall quality. I have found that only Logitech offers a good option in those price ranges, including a subwoofer. I have been using the Logitech Z211 for about 10 years now, and they are simply fantastic for their cost (like $30 or so). It's a consistently solid product, and I don't doubt that the newer models are as well.

Really useful stuff. I'm getting ready to organize my home office. I'm a software developer and I agree with your suggestion on desk depth. I'm also getting a 180x80 desk with an electric frame. I'm also planning to buy a solid chair. About monitors, I'm one of these guys with multi monitor setup 😁 For me the best setup that I currently use i 3x27”. The main in front of me is 4K and on the sides are 2K in vertical position. That's a lot of space for coding tools. Recently I've also switched from Logitech MX3 to Logitech MX Ergo trackball. Awesome device. My wrist pain has gone 😊

For those that have the trouble of having a great office chair that's inconveniently too low at max height for your desk where your arms aren't placed above your (non-standing) desk in a normal position, look into getting a replacement gas cylinder that can extend higher than the one you currently have and look into how to switch out the cylinder

I've learned the desk depth thing really early since I like to have everything mounted onto my desk, this is because I have to move my setup every like 2-3 months idk why but if I don't I feel wrong. I've found the best depth for me is 30in and to use a pad that can easily slide so when I need to write I can move all my peripherals forward.

For me, I do advanced professional video editing. Just this week I was able tk get back to 2 monitors with workspace in the same program on both! Not just an extra viewer monitor. Best thing ever! I can see myself doing an ultrawide and a smaller view monitor on top though. But the 2 and just 2 is my preference. Then again, I need my timline to have the full height of the screen just because of the insane amount of work I have to do.

To be fair if you enjoy the chair, like its asthetic and can afford the cost then that's a totally justified choice. But its like saying armani is worth the price for practicality. It isn't.

Thank you for your input on the value of the Herman Miller Aeron chair. It’s important to consider different viewpoints, but I’d like to offer some additional perspective based on my personal experience and broader considerations of value and quality. Firstly, assessing the worth of a product like the Herman Miller Aeron chair goes beyond its material components. The chair’s design, ergonomics, and durability are paramount. In my experience, having used various chairs including those from Ergotune, Secret Lab, IKEA, and Amazon, none have matched the Aeron’s longevity and comfort. It’s been a reliable fixture in my workspace for over five years, outlasting its predecessors significantly. Regarding your comparison to Armani and practicality, I understand your point but believe a more fitting comparison might be with high-quality tools or equipment. For instance, professional chefs invest in premium knives not just for the brand but for the reliable performance, durability, and efficiency they offer. In a similar vein, the Aeron chair is an investment in comfort, health (particularly in maintaining posture), and productivity for those of us who spend extensive hours seated. It’s also worth considering the long-term cost-effectiveness. While the upfront cost is higher, the Aeron’s durability means fewer replacements and repairs, ultimately offering better value over time. It’s a classic example of ‘you get what you pay for.’ In conclusion, while I respect your perspective, my experiences and the sustained benefits I’ve derived from the Herman Miller Aeron chair strongly support its value. It’s a practical, long-term investment in workplace comfort and health. If one prefers to opt for a more budget-friendly chair, that’s a personal choice. However, for me, the quality, comfort, and durability of the Aeron chair justify its price, proving to be economical in the long run.

Your point about the chair is really important. I too have an Aeron, but have had the same one since 1997. I have put in tens of thousands of hours sitting in this chair and while I needed to replace the hydraulic cylinder once (over 20 years into my ownership!) it has been the perfect chair. It is expensive, but spread that cost over 10-20, maybe 30 years and it's actually a bargain.

I'm still relatively new to the WFH group, but I have been in school for the last 5.5 years and was an MMO gamer before that. I've spent many hours at my desk, and I can say that the Secretlab chairs, with a pretty cheap chair cushion, are quite ergonomic for the price. And... they DO look pretty sweet when compared to the average "gaming" chair. lol

As everyone has an opinion, I am going to give mine: desk depth, without a doubt, but in general whatever allows you to move things around - meaning, wireless keyboard, mouse, headset, charging them from time to time and learning not to leave them without battery at the same time if possible - and whatever makes your posture more conformable - desk that can be lifted, monitor mount, rest for your wrists... I used to buy ergo keyboards, ergo mice, etc, but actually what helps is not repeating the same effort, so being able to move the keyboard around, change the mouse to another hand, switch from normal mouse to trackball and back... Now I watched the video and I am quite aligned with the same ideas. I got an ultra wide monitor for gaming and it turned out to be better for working, but it took quite a few months of learning to avoid hurting my neck. Notice how he uses three mice, two keyboards, several monitors... you really accumulate them with years and never throw them away because you really need to switch from time to time.

I also find that monitor height is important. I use a standing desk (not adjustable, sadly), and like to look forward, not down, as would be the case if the monitor is on its supplied stand (I'm using an iMac), so I have the monitor raised by 10-15cm. You don't appear to have your monitor on your very pretty desk shelf.

Also some support on the floor to lift your feet up 10-20cm so that your pose will push your lower back against your chair's back. Once you'll try it can't do without. But having using multiple mouses, the apple mouse is just most unergonomic ones, how can you use that?

Yup 80cm depth seems líke the sweet spot especially if you use Monitors with 27 inch and above. This is also better for your eyes.

Regarding the IKEA MARKUS chair - I'm not sure why so many desk nerds (NB, meant as a compliment, not an insult) recommend it as a good cheaper alternative to a good chair. I got it myself as that cheaper alternative and wasn't overly happy with it. It is very well-built, and comfortable to SIT on. But the arms are not adjustable (which you actually listed as one of your two main requirements). As a result of this, my right arm constantly aches because it hangs off the desk. I don't think it should be considered a reliable alternative.

CAN'T PURCHASE: I enjoyed your video. I tried to purchase several of the Wallpaper packs BUT the checkout form does not work. I can enter my name and email address but the rest of the form is greyed out - can not enter any credit card information. There is another link at the top of your page to create an account with you but there is no mention if creating an account is required to make a purchase. I elected not to create an account because there is no information on privacy policy or anyway to opt of my personnel information being sold or given to "Marketing Partners". I am NOT interested in subscribing to even more marketing emails.Regardless, I will now go watch some of your other videos because of great voice, great photography, really nice editing and especially because you don't start off with "Yo KZbin - What's Up" and no loud distracting music. You have the perfect formula. Well Done!!

Would you suggest getting a webcam/mic combo? I have multiple Zoom calls each week and would rather avoid using a headset with a microphone as it can look unprofessional at times. I’d be grateful for any suggestions!

Hi Oliur, Quick question: In the video, you're using an Apple Watch Ultra band that looks really good. Could you please do a review on it?
