Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in Tennessee, but my daddy grew up in Monongahela National Forest before it was a national forest, near Fenwick and Richwood, if you know where that is. I still have many cousins there. He often talked about the mountains when I was growing up and loved nothing better than taking me for a long drive, then a long walk among the hills along a creek banks.

Sang this with my sisters in the 70s. Just recently learned that my mom has an other blockage in her heart and fluid in her right lung. She's 89 yrs old. OK okay.. let me tell you the story...John Denver had never been to WV, but (I think) he lived in VA but could pick up a radio station that he listened to religiously.. so back then it would have DEFINITELY been old country, folk, and preachers... but he loved the way the people in the radio stations broadcasted about their beautiful state and he always wanted to visit... but he had a picture in his mind.. that's what he's referring to. ❤
