Tony Soprano:"I was sorry to hear about Sykes. He was a good guy. What happened to him again?" Johny Sack "The crazy bastard chased a bum, a little kid, a kitten and a shit load of dogs on a scooter into the subway in his car and got hit by a train." Tony Soprano: "Jesus Christ......"
@Adamguy20034 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I could picture Tony doing the occasional bit of business with Sykes.
@HellqueenRoz4 жыл бұрын
I can see Tony doing some business with Sykes but ultimately having an explosive falling-out with him. He'd appreciate Sykes' ruthlessness and how he gets results, but he'd actually hate Sykes' cruelty to animals. Tony's love of animals is so extensive that he actually arguably values animal lives above those of humans. Consider how murdering someone is just business to him but hurting, let alone killing an animal is something that drives him to explosive rages. If it were a Sopranos episode, he'd probably fly into a rage and beat Sykes into unconsciousness, if not to death, and he'd spend the episode dealing with fallout from the New York families over it because he offed a man who was one of their good earners. It would also likely end with Tony visiting Jenny and playing with all the dogs to his great delight.

It would be funny if it was Tony that Sykes was talking to on the phone. "Whaddya mean? Ya start with the knuckles....and the cement shoes? Ha haa yeah that'll do it."

As a kid I never understood what Sykes was talking about when he said 'What d'ya mean? You start with the knuckles.". Getting it once I was older made him all the more awesome as a villain.

I've come to the conclusion that Sykes is the most darkest villain in the history of Disney, putting Frollo from the Hunchback of Notre Dame in 2nd place and Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians, 3rd. Sykes has such a dark demeanor and is more realistic than any other Disney villain that I've ever seen in my entire life. Loading a pistol with the intent to kill someone, kidnapping Jenny for ransom and nearly killing Fagin and the dogs and Oliver on the train tracks, where Sykes meets his death, which scared the hell out of me as a kid. Overall, Sykes is the darkest villain that Disney has ever created.

The car completes the character. Sykes' custom-built, handcrafted limousine is most likely a 1970's Lincoln Continental Mark IV Town Car with a mix of Cadillac and Oldsmobile on the outside and a mix of GM and Chevy Monte Carlo on the inside. Imagine if Sykes travelled to Michigan, to the original Lincoln Motor Co. in Detroit just to commission building his car, picking black for stealth capability and a mini-statue of his two Dobermans for a hood ornament. Not to mention a car from this era was considered a sport car based on the 4WD feature and the force it took to drive it. Later on, Sykes is grabbing gears chasing Fagin and his pals through the subway, breaking the handle off the gear shift, flooring the gas pedal all the way, and burning rubber off his tires. So badass!

spikedpsycho What if it wasn't always like that? What if Fagin had a good life with that money but messed up and became homeless by spending it?
@quillmaurer65635 жыл бұрын
I would make two guesses here, both being that this was way beyond the amount of money Fagin owed Sykes. First was that the potential payoff he saw from ransoming the rich girl was far greater than what Fagin owed him. This wasn't getting his repayment, it was an opportunity at far more money - far more than the cost of his Caddie. Second was that it was clearly a fit of rage, he wasn't thinking clearly or rationally, was just so pissed he did stupid things. Things like ruining his car and risking his life. He wanted that girl, and Fagin dead, even if it cost him his car, or his own life. Foolish, irrational actions in a fit of rage is probably the #1 cause of death of Disney Villains.

I think Sykes and Ratigan are both the darkest Disney villians of the 1980s as they are both have similarities. They both smoke, wear business suits to make them like mafia bosses, are musuclar, clean shaven, kidnap little girls and hold them prisoner and both show no mercy to Fagin and Flaversham respectively. I actually think Robert Loggia would had been perfect as Ratigan as he would had nailed it!
