you are doing a fantastic job on the fencing ........you will never regret spending on fencing ........you have a fancy post driver with rock spike also .......I use a iorn girder to hang a gate .......get it knocked in with a driver and hang the gate with pillar grips , they are very common over here , will outlast any wooden post and take more abuse ......and quicker to set up also .... with the campsite winding down , you must go off on holiday for a week or two , .......the world will. be there after us all ....!
@DaleFarm3 ай бұрын
The rock spike is definitely useful here because we are on rocky ground ( limestone ) - haven’t seen anyone using an iron girder but it sounds like it does the job well which is what matters. We know a chap who makes his own concrete posts which sounds like it is pretty good but he’s also got a digger ( which nick would love! ) iv told him we can’t have everything! We have plenty more fencing to get on with and lots of posts ready to go, only wooden tho!

My grandmother lived in a city with lots of churches, plus there was a local carrilon, which was played every day. Every time I hear church bells I remember her. Great memories, she passed on in 1975, gone but never forgotten as long as I live. Good to see your Mom helping with the Highland rodeo.

Your gates and sheep runs and upgraded fencing must make life a lot easier. Love that protec post driver what a piece of kit.. I like the fact it has a post protection plate on top of the post for driving. Ps those Ridgeline coats look the business might treat myself this winter, I guess you stick a fleece or similar underneath and it makes winter a little more bearable.
@DaleFarm3 ай бұрын
Yeah the improvements add up little by little and having properly functioning gateways is a good help ☺️ the ridgeline jackets are great yes I wear mine a lot

Top footage Joanna moving the cattle to a rested/spelled grazing block. Even though it's a predictable outcome I always enjoyed seeing the livestock do just that little bit better on grazing country that hadn't been fed for a time. Good work with the fencing chores...for us too it was yet another ongoing aspect of farming and at times a pain but when it's all done and the cattle are successfully confined to the paddock the "peace of mind" factor is a good feeling. All the livestock are looking great Joanna. Well done.

Thank you Jeff, it’s been a wet and windy day here today but we have been out checking fences and there’s so many areas needing more work and improvement! Where to begin! But it’s nice to do jobs that make the fields secure as it’s always a headache if you can’t keep the stock in

It's great to see you and Nic. Sorry, im a few days late watching. The highlands look in great condition, Joanna, and those calfs definitely had other ideas, didn't they 😂. It's brilliant that you are able to catch up on a few improvements around the farm, the gateways are brilliant, there is nothing worse than a decrepid gateway that you cant get in or out off quickly and safely. I hope the weather holds for you. We just seem to have rain and more rain up here in the northeast. We do get the odd nice day. Those cheeky sheep asking for apples 😂. Looking forward to your next update Joanna and Nick, take care 💜

Should be interesting to see how grazing the hay field turns out next spring. With all the seed in there and extra vegetation being eat/trampled in it should be great! I envy nicks big knocker, I had to use me little one the other day which doesn’t hit as hard🤦♂🤔😆😆
