But when drama that has been done again and again between characters I no longer care about in a once promising, epic and ambitious show, then there is a problem. Just take the flash, first 2 seasons were great, he was learning his powers, learning what it means and takes to be a hero, and his resolve is finally challenged with his father's death. Now, we have half a season of pep talk where litteral multiversal forces were transformed into a family drama, and nothing really matters because any proggression made in the characters' relations will inevitabily be challenged for the most stupid reason in the next episode, so we have to watch them learn the same lesson again and again and again

He couldn't just refuse a bodyguard especially since his mother insisted on it. By the way, his mom did him a favor by giving him John Diggle as Diggle became his best friend and most trusted ally.
