First time i heard this song and Oliver Anthony in general it was my third day in rehab I was defeated I put my hands up and surrendered and this song hit me on a different level. I REALLY love this. For obvious reasons, the original will always be 'the favorite' for most... but I really appreciate having a new 'Oliver Anthony Studio Version' album to be able to get a record when it comes out, and I appreciate the subtle changes you made here and there (like numbing vs. saving in this song) that really tie together the theme of having the great snippets of scripture throughout. This is a great song, it needed to be re recorded... I've been sober for almost 30 years. It was not worth it. I can't go back to drinking and here in Reno, NV ... there aint chit for sober people. AA here is a dictatorship of bleeding deacons who deliberately obfuscated the Big Book for their own money, property and prestige. Sobriety is isolation and extremely pointless. Great song tho, I love the crickets in the other version too.
