+Now Future I'm hoping the real reason Jake went back to Rowan's house to begin with, was that he knew Rowan would never have let the fact go that Olivia, his own flesh and blood, chose to live her own live and 'be mediocre'. That is why he trained Jake and all the other male soldiers as his 'sons' (maybe in his mind Rowan thought women in general are too weak, therefore he can train men better. THAT would make sense cos he could've just gotten a 'replacement daughter' or something). So I believe its either Jake went back, sacrificing himself in order for Rowan to let Olivia live her life or he knows by associating himself with Rowan, Liv will finally understand what Tom, Huck and Jake himself said about her father not actually having a daughter, but someone he can control, like a soldier. She didn't mean it and played on every insecurity Jake had to get him to accept. He went ahead and married Vanessa anyway so really the choice was his. I'm both an Olitz and Olake shipper. I watch 'Scandal' several times a year. When I want a happy ending for Olitz, I watch the series through to the very end. Whenever I want a happy ending for Olake, I pretend that the first few minutes of Season 4, Episode 1-where they are both so happy on the island-was the series finale. As someone who has watched the series what feels like a million times, I know that Olivia loved Jake as well. She loved both Fitz and Jake. Her love for the President was overwhelming, but that doesn't mean she never loved Jake.

I ain't even worried because Jake said in last weeks episode he's chasing the sun. So, him and Liv are probably going to be together for a bit before the Olitz saga begins again. I really do not know who she is going to end up with at this point, and i'm not trying to figure it out at all. Olivia just needs to find out what she wants. Who she wants, and what she wants to be. Once she determines this, then she can determine who she wants as her man. She can't be Olivia Pope while with Fitz. Hence why they broke up last season. She was watered down to first lady duties, which just aren't her thing.With Fitz, it will always be like that. Truly being with him means she can't be Olivia Pope. She doesn't want to make jam in a house in Vermont. Olivia wants to be a "fixer". That is why I always felt as if Jake was a better choice. Not only is she able to be Olivia Pope, but he knows how to get her to stop and take a breather. She's a different person around him and I think she's realizing that. With Fitz, she's always running something or making some sort of decision. With Jake things are more relaxed. They escape their problems together, and find comfort in each other. They lean on each other. Jake matches her fire. She just runs Fitz's show, which I can't stand. Stand up to her for once gosh damn it. It was never like that with Jake, and it never will be, hence why I feel they are the better couple.

My guess if they do a psychological back-story profile on these characters, is that Jake's mother was a lot like Olivia, and probably worse, and very abusive and most likely abandoned him when he was young and vulnerable which is why he was always so attracted to her and was always willingly her bitch. On the same lines, I always thought Fitz was so drawn to her because everyone always told him "yes" and every woman clung to him either for his money, power, good looks and /or charm and Liv was the first woman who ever really said no to him and didn't need or want him for anything and that fascinated him.

It was hard for me to watch also. I actually quit watching altogether. And I was team Olitz in the beginning. But Shonda Rhimes turned Olivia's character into someone very unlikeable. I couldn't believe the direction the show took. It was no longer about a crisis management firm. Instead, it became this dumb, unbelievable spy drama.

This is a sad version of the Olivia Pope that was introduced in the beginning of this series. I really don’t know what Shonda is doing with this character. It baffles me that instead of truly working on a journey for this character she’s been reduced to a sad confused woman who has no idea what she wants or even who she is. Whether it’s Fitz or Jake (or even her) I don’t think she knows. Shonda should have truly had this character on a journey, a tangible journey that we could see because what she’s been showing is plot driven mess.

Wow, this actually hurt me to watch way more this time then when it aired live. I was too much on cloud 9 with the great material they gave Jake and Liv for me to really care about this. Especially when they laid great groundwork for them as a couple in the long term or as a possible endgame (even though my bet is still that Liv will end up alone when the show ends) Even though you could see the hurt in Jake's face I still bet he knows that Rowan got to her like he always does, so I'm pretty sure he didn't really buy anything Liv said. Especially when the entire time her voice was wobbly and she was always seconds away from crying. You could tell it killed Liv to say all that to him, then her face when she was walking away. She was hurtful as possible to save his life. I thought it was hilarious how she just blew Fitz off completely. Well, they have always shown especially since S4 by Liv's actions that she loves Jake so I wasn't surprised they showed that hugely in this episode, with Jake saying twice she loves him (the other time he said Liv loves him was to Fitz, and it wasn't all just to mess with him. It had truth to it) I could always see her love for him, she wanted to be with Jake and looked so happy. She was also ready to fight for Jake's freedom and life like she's done in the past. They just blew up the open ends with them even more. Vanessa isn't staying on the show so I predict a death before the season ends.

Jake knows, he also kept looking at Rowan during the wedding. Rowan won't ever lose or get killed, they put the nail in that when they made him a regular RME. Even when he was recurring I knew nothing would happen to him, they keep repeating the SAME storyline with him over and over, it's boring. Rowan is clearly mentally abusive, he always turns Liv into this scared little girl when he gets like that and it literally makes me sick. That is why I wish they could beat him, it's sick he keeps winning and beating her down. Even though this scene was sad it was beautiful at the same time, the song gave it a lot of weight too.
