this play was quite interesting and definitely worth the $7 i payed to national theatre lol.

@@EveRiriqj I'm not an actor but I am autistic and Luke is written to be autistic and I personally think from the way he tells the story to the way that he grips the sides of the chair he's sitting on when he's upset is a very accurate depiction of an overstimmulated upset autistic person which is good because we don't always get good and accurate depictions of autism when it's not played/written by an autistic person

i just watched the whole thing and holy shit. i’m autistic and joseph quinn is quite literallly my comfort person so seeing him portray someone like me, and not just that, but seeing him do it ACCURATELY?? it makes me so incredibly happy. autisms always overdramatized when played by a non-autistic actor, but, and i’m not just being biased, but i see myself in luke(joe quinn’s character) and i’m just happy beyond words

Just watched the play and oh my god. It made me cry how much I wanted to hug Luke (Joseph). So scared and angry. Somebody else has already said it, but he did amazingly playing someone neurodivergent. As did the actor playing his dad. His monologue about the "battery acid" in his veins was amazing... It left me longing for a happy ending though. May be simple of me but I really wish it had one.

trust me when i say we are! i am in highschool so i cant speak for all but the other commenters are right, once you get on stage there is all this energy that lets muscle memory take over and you just throw everything you have to the audience until you get to the green room and crash haha (at least for me but im not a professional idk how those guys do it)

It's great, whenever watching a play, I'm like "HOW DO THEY REMEMBER ALL THE LINES? AAAH" but you have ages to learn them all and then you do it knowing the lines and it's then just fun to act it all out, also the feeling of walking home after a performance is the beesssttt, it feels so good. Like others have said, there definitely is an energy to being on stage, I'm always pretty nervous but as soon as I actually step out onto stage, I'm fine.

it is, but it’s also exhilarating. performing comes with a rush that makes up for all of emotional drain and exhaustion. knowing that the audience is happy makes you happy and it’s just very cathartic overall. for me, performing is one of my favorite things in the universe. making art and collaborating and sharing it with the world is just… one of the best things on earth, honestly.
