Olivia Cooke Discusses Her Role In "Vanity Fair"

Gwyneth Hughes' adaptation of Thackeray's literary classic, "Vanity Fair," is set against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars, and follows Becky Sharp (Olivia Cooke) as she attempts to claw her way out of poverty and scale the heights of English Society. Her story of "villainy, crime, merriment, lovemaking, jilting, laughing, cheating, fighting and dancing", takes her all the way to the court of King George IV, via the Battle of Waterloo, breaking hearts and losing fortunes as she goes.

Am watching, or trying to watch, Vanity Fair now. Olivia Cooke is insufferable. She wears a constant smirk and mugs all over the place. Can’t some of these younger actresses tell the difference between posing and acting? She’s mugging in this interview too. Just terrible, a real English phony. She has no concept of the character, maybe she can’t read.

I didn’t see vanity fair, but I just watched her today in Katie says goodbye. The movie sucked, but her acting was brilliant and she played an American. I was shocked to find out she’s British. I can’t wait to see everything she’s in.
