This story explains this journey of breast cancer so well that I'm sharing it with as many people as will listen! I didn't listen to the oratory which said women over 70 don't need to have annual mammograms. I continued to faithfully have my annual exam and was 74 when very early detection allowed me the "easy road' to recovery. Now, at eight years out, I still have regular mammograms and annual visits with my breast cancer doctor. Thank you, Olivia Mann, for sharing your story! Please continue to advocate for breast cancer awareness!

Olivia is the bravest woman to come out and share her story with the world. It's not an easy journey, and to be hit with so much in such a short time and be able to face it all with love and strength, she's a real superhero! I too had breast cancer, and just had a baby, so I empathize... Stay strong and amazing Olivia! Your family is SO lucky to have you! You're an inspiration.

There was a reason Olivia emerged as a star from G4. She was nerdy yet fun, beautiful, but not full of herself, she wasn't afraid to be real with the fans and she was brave and open for all sorts of crazy projects as a host on G4. Now we can add mother, survivor and spokesperson for those facing cancer. She is truly impressive, and may she continue to be blessed with good health while she deals with her health issues.

I had prostate cancer. When the doctor initially told me the diagnosis, my thinking shut down because I was in shock. I had no symptoms, it was discovered during a routine exam. The first thing that shot through my mind was, "Is this the beginning of the end?" On my second visit I had my wife go with me when I saw a urologist and again my mind shut off. Later my wife me what he said. I wish he luck with her recovery.

I'm glad she is better, however, most of us even with insurance, don't get that kind of care. A woman is told she needs a biopsy, but has to wait two to three weeks to get one, not the next day like Olivia did. And I don't know anyone who would order an ultrasound sound after a mammogram, let alone an MRI and another ultrasound. Women's health needs to change greatly.

Glad she's OK and can talk about this all because I wonder, after getting positive results and being negative for the breast cancer gene - I wonder why the doctor pushed to check one more thing. I think that's helpful for us regulars to keep advocating

I would love to know ho a person with normal health are or lack of can actually get this sort of assessment. I know most doctors I’ve approached with any pain or wonder about something in my body, ignores me. Women need to be heard in all arenas. Especially when it comes to our health.
@zarahshabs79366 ай бұрын
this is the test she was talking about i totally agree with you! i am a medical student and i wish more doctors would be more proactive with people's health and give more time/greater listening ears to their patients. unfortunately most are a product of the american healthcare system which does not look out for patients IMO I may be biased but i recommend looking for a DO doctor if you haven't worked with one before. same as an MD doctor but it's a specifically american medical degree that emphasizes holistic care and thus can be great listeners/advocates of their patients

@smittys-gk8ku5 ай бұрын
Sorry, but people always say these things about celebrities. "They are so beautiful". But people who say these things do realize they have work done right? She was attractive before the work. But really they have their noses done, Botox, face lifts, etc.,( thus no smile line or crows feet), eye lifts, fat sucked out. They have access to trainers and the best make-up artists and hair colorists. Why wouldn't they be attractive is what we should be saying as opposed to thinking they have some magic potion to stay looking young and attractive. Just my thoughts.
@ametha68405 ай бұрын
@@smittys-gk8ku and that is the problem. you only see the superficial side of being attractive. what i really meant is her aura and the way she looks and speaks around. too bad that you can only see it like that. she is not pretty because of the plastic surgery. she is beautiful because that is the way she is.

I mean this will all compassion and understanding. What Olivia is describing is lifelong anxiety. I'm not suggesting that caused her cancer, but I believe she had more than postpartum anxiety attacks. Her husband is pretty famously neurotic himself. I'm glad they found some happiness together and are taking such delight in their son. That is a hell of a lot to go through in a few years. Even in the retelling, Munn exhibits some well known traits of the anxious. The over explaining and non linear thoughts..... And hallelujah, for once, Kelly didn't keep interrupting Olivia's story. To be honest, I think Kelly was a bit spooked.

@Markyajv6 ай бұрын
Then go watch Jennifer Hudson, or go watch Drew try to crawl into her guests bodies while having a conversation. Kelly has always, publicly, said she loves to talk. Or she talks too much. Take a hint. Leaving that comment can only be changed by YOU making a change. Ugh.
@lindafrance91922 ай бұрын
This interview wasn’t an example of her talking too much as Olivia did most of the talking with Kelly interjecting briefly (after all she is the host). If her style of interviewing is not for you don’t watch her. Most of the guests on these talk shows will be on another so find a talk show more to your liking. This is her style and has been since she’s had her show so no point in continuing to complain.

I wouldn't wish any form of cancer on my worst enemy. That being said, thankfully she will be fine, physically. Aesthetics will be her only problem. Most people who find themselves with a cancer diagnosis aren't that lucky. Money talks & allows for so many of these preventative tests that the majority of the population has never even heard of. I genuinely hope she starts focusing on counting her blessings rather than the negatives.

It's completely impractical to order an MRI after a negative mammogram result. No doctor in the regular world is doing that. Olivia obviously has boutique/concierge healthcare. Her "journey" makes utterly no sense especially if she is also negative for BRCA. Why do the mammogram at all? I've been high risk my whole life. My first imaging was urged before age 30. How did Olivia avoid her first comprehensive breast cancer assessment before 40 if she had all of these high risk factors?
