Gotta say, there are no current pop stars that pay attention to the band as much as Olivia does. Not even as much, but at all. The way she incorporated everyone into the concert so they have their own moment is unfortunately something that doesn't happen a lot nowadays. Not only that, but big stars presenting each one of the band members is almost unheard of now, and she still does it. I really admire her for that. She's a true scholar of rock and punk. She's carrying a whole genre over into the mainstream and reviving it. Too bad there are so many angry 40+ year olds not wanting to let her in

That's how you know the difference between bedroom warriors and players that have actually been in decent sounding bands. Two of my favouruite guitarists (Dimebag and Tony Iommi) have what are pretty atrocious weedy tones in isolation, but fit their bands perfectly and Pantera and Sabbath sound thunderous. Shout out to the bassists who make us sound good, lol.

You’re telling me their Jack White inspired music doesn’t have objectively great guitar tone?? Wtf
@mahhew28733 ай бұрын
Also, tone is subjective. What isn't subjective is a musician's standing in society. She's better paid, better known, better respected than any of the keyboard warriors delivering their criticism on their smartphones from their mother's basement. These creatures should consider that they're missing something and they may be the one with the problem.

I'm not familiar with Olivia's music as I'm not much of a pop fan, but that makes the Rig Rundown even more interesting because it's a completely different approach than what I'm used to. And these girls are serious players!! Really enjoyed this.
@SanyaTheShe3 ай бұрын
@@billl.4410 gotta say, you might want to check it out. She's a mainstream pop star and therefore pop, but a lot of her songs are actually pure rock and/or punk, or at least pop-rock/pop-punk. She does a really good job of mixing the different genres and then presenting them as pop thanks to, or because of, her status in the music industry. I don't know what kind of music you listen to, but I played a lot of her songs to my dad who is strictly rock and he was impressed. Not all of them fall into that category of course, but I'd give her a chance if I was you, you might just be surprised. She also plays guitar and piano and writes her own music
@SanyaTheShe3 ай бұрын
Gotta say, Olivia is anything but your typical pop artist. She's more punk-pop and even more pop-rock, and sometimes fully rock. If you are interested I recommend all American bitch, ballad of a homeschooled girl, brutal, bad idea right and many more. She's not your average pop artist. She is in the way that she's popular, but she's basically Trojan horsing rock and punk as pop, it's worth checking out.

Boomers man . they hate everything this is not from the 80's 70s and 60s . they are fucking annoying . especially in FB Guitar Groups
@SanyaTheShe3 ай бұрын
There's really not much hate. Well, nothing different than any other young female artist has received and still receives today anyway. But there are a lot of people gate-keeping rock that don't want to let her in because she's young, because she's a woman, and because she's mixing it with, or dare I quote one brilliant Rolling Stone's journalist, Trojan horsing it as pop. And there are a lot of people gate-keeping punk for the same reasons. And then you have your classic misogynistic bunch that gets angry when an 18 year old girl wins a Grammy, and your fangirl wars between "pop girlies" (it still applies to older generations unfortunately), and your Christian extremists that think her occasional swearing is gonna take the kids over to the dark side. Don't forget the extremist right of course, since she supports organizations that stand for women's reproductive rights. All of this to say, the hate is always related to much deeper rooted problems, and the hate is the same that has ever been for someone in her position. Basically meaning she's doing good. But I've been to her concert and I think you'd be surprised how many middle-aged people were there, and not because they came with their kids. Even when you visit her Reddit page, so many 30+, 40+ even 50+ year old people. It's just that haters are always much, much louder.
@mattg0823 ай бұрын
It’s probably from people who look at it as a more polished put together band vs organically…tons of those bands in the 70s. But that’s pretty much the pop world. One singer in the studio with writers that’s the face, usually a familiar one from Disney or the lot. Then production hand picks the best players and puts them together to play pre arranged music. Of course there is prob some 40 year old guy behind all this, like Jack antonoff and several others. But live they just put a band together. I’ve done that with hired guns, but not on a huge platform like this. But some people hate on music written in the studio by writers, and then big productions on stage. I guess they want raw like rock bands pre 2010, that grew up and played together…there’s examples of those as well. But that’s what I hear when people bitch. Same thing as in the 90s and early 2000s when people would say Djs aren’t real music, or punk music isn’t real music. If people enjoy it and can make a living…more power to them!
