I think a lot of ppl try to invalidate teenagers feelings when they experience their first loves and I’m not sure why but I do know that teenagers do feel love and heartbreak. Maybe more intensely even. Her experience with a toxic guy is really going to help a lot of ppl of all ages get through a break up and not only that but help them realize they are worth more than their parter is making them believe.
@neamhdhlisteanach67203 жыл бұрын
i agree. teenagers are deffo more naive and inexperienced so emotions from relationships and breakups can be so intense especially when teens already are hormonal and emotions can be hard to handle.

I agree, it's going to help a lot of teenagers get through similar situations. She even said writing about this experience has helped her move on from it and how therapeutic it was. She definitely doesn't feel this way anymore, but during that moment, the heartbreak feels like the world is ending
@2322zelda3 жыл бұрын
I agree with everything wholeheartedly with what you’re saying but I would reword that last part of the last sentence by saying this song helps people realize they are worth more than they are letting their partner make them believe. It puts the responsibility of self-worth onto the self and not to the other person, because you won’t fix your worth if you put the responsibility onto someone else.

I love your analysis!! I feel like a lot of people invalidate her feelings because he didn't technically "cheat". But imagine your partner has a very close friend and whenever you ask if there is anything going on you're told "you're just paranoid." Then one day your partner breaks up with you for no clear reason, and 2 weeks later they are dating that same person you were told not to worry about. Who knows what went on before. Idk I'd feel betrayed too.

The guy has a reputation of being really incredibly nice, but his hit and run tendencies with girls surfaced even before this whole situation with olivia came to the public eye. And I think he knew his own charms, which enabled him to pursue someone else while gaslighting olivia to question/doubt her own feelings and thoughts, despite being fully AWARE that she was actually right. I also think that the extreme uniqueness of Olivia's personal/professional situation had really contributed to the pain she was feeling. She's in a Disney contract with the boy so even if she wanted, she couldn't escape him and had to be around the guy for months after. That scenario alone would be painful and difficult for anyone going through it, much less at 17. If I placed myself in her shoes, I guess it helps me to gain a deeper understanding of her situation and thus, her songs. She had to be in his presence for a long time, look into his eyes, convincingly portray a character of a girl who's still in love with him, while actually feeling that way in real life after whatever happened. So I understand that this would take a toll on someone. To be honest, I do think it's quite harsh of him to bring the other girl around knowing olivia couldn't escape them & had to see it. But at the end of the day, she's able to unpack her feelings through songs, and hopefully the guy has learned to change.

@kingmanlanguagescenter8563 жыл бұрын
I dedicated this song to my ex husband, we had a daughter but he dated the girl who claims to be only a "Friend" and then he left me, he has other girls and ended up with her and wrote a super long post talking about how much he loved her since the time we were together , that hurted me a lot, so I dedicated him this song, specially because he denied over and over again having a special relationship with her. finally he got some karma , im not happy about this, but he cheated on her and she left him, he asked me for help to get her back, ridiculous, and I refused of course. Unfortunately I'm still hurt, and I have to work hard every single day for my daughter because he never helped me with money nor taking care of her. so in my case my "traitor" didn't reflect and don't know what he did was wrong

In my opinion I think he totally knew she was going to get hurt and I know that if you no longer love someone or you truly never did is better to take a step back but as a human being I would consider the feelings of the other person and take a little break so he/she can at least accept what's going on and then get into my own stuff with someone else if I want to... I think he needed to be a little empathetic. Please react to favorite crime ❤🥰

The comments are all about teens & their feelings being valid but ITS NOT JUST TEENS THOUGH. This happens to ppl of all ages. As a 34 year old established woman I relate. Because there are millions of songs about cheating but NOBODY talks about your partner falling in love w/ someone else while you’re together. The BETRAYAL OF THAT. Theres a vacuum in the myriad of cheating songs about this moment. When your partner is ENTERTAINING another man/woman while you’re together, they didn’t fück or kiss so it’s not technically cheating BUT the moment they CHOSE to continue talking to her/him WHILE WE ARE TOGETHER. That moment where s/he knows that they’re attracted to that person & instead of catching himself & saying NO, they lean into that temptation so that when it knocked THEY INVITED IT IN. Nobody ever talks about that situation. It’s always the sleeping with & cheating. You’re right. Being strung along then eventually will break up up because they already cultivating something w/ someone else! No one talks about that

I love this song but the only line I would have changed in it is "God I wish you would have thought this through" because she did have in the back on her mind this was a bad thing. I would have changed the "you" to "I". And I agree with everything said. At some point we all reflect in our lives and go "Damn, I really f**ked up something that could have been good". Especially if you are in situation now that doesn't bring you joy. Regrets.. :s
