I've always said Manchester United should have gotten Giroud and played him the 'Fellaini' role instead of.. well, Fellaini. His hold up ability is best in the world, his passing and layoff skills are supremely underrated especially in the box, and his interplay is 🔥🔥, he looks like a streetballer when he's got a good flow w/ his teammates. He would have *excelled* in Fellaini's role *Edit: oh and since he wouldn't be relied on to score goals, ppl would realize he's damn good

For a striker who played over 220+ games and scoring 78 goals is just good not great. France Won World Cup Thanks to blistering pace of Mbappe, Consistency of Griezmann, Work House Kante and Matuidi and plus Pogba, Varane plus Having No Competition in Wc. all big teams choked themselves in the biggest stage not because of So called Giroud.

Mandzukic is more than just a target man and team player. He can play on the wings too like Cavani. Drogba is number one tho but he retired obviously. I agree with the three you mentioned, not necessarily in the same order, I haven't followed Dzeko enough to judge but he is indeed up there.

Kane and Raúl Jiménez are other honorable mentions

@@sreerag_v_s if you don't know have knowledge about something you should just keep quiet instead of trying to act cool and making a fool out of yourself. At his French club giroud managed to only score around 15 goals and missed the next season. He also was exposed to tier one football pretty late in his career around 23 which is not good if you want to develop as a player and that to at ligue 1 which we can all say doesn't have enough much competition and pays much attention to tactics. Initially he was brought in as back up and after losing persie no other manager would replace a world class striker with somone who has absolutely little experience in top tier football. Wenger had patience to develop his first touch and help with that quick one touch passing play throughout the years. Especially when Sanchez was brought into the club. No manager in a top side would give the time to such a player to develop skills like this. Don't be a keyboard warrior and laugh like a loon here if you don't know your facts. Stick one up your but and shut the F up if you don't know your facts I suppose. 🤷‍♂️🙊

Great target man okay but the guy has had really great goals through out his entire club career starting from Monteplier where he got game time and gave them a league 1 trophy ahead of PSG 😱 In Arsenal was the only one clinical enough to make Neuer worry😂 In Chelsea won UEL and UCL as club's top scorer 🤯 All there in England getting little game time and now Italy giving him game time when he's fit 11 goals in 29 matches challenging Zlatan Leao Rebic , still delivering trophies to clubs giving him game time UNDERRATED IN ENGLAND THIS GUY

Rudi Voller was really superb with his back to goal. He was so clever, and he used his upper body to shield the ball brilliantly, even when 2 Serie A defenders were climbing all over him. He was so good at bringing midfielders into the game with his back to goal. Every time he took his shirt off, you could tell that he did a lot of weight-training to develop his upper body. It was simply impossible to push him off the ball. Also, we should not forget Eder, the Portuguese player who scored the winning goal in Euro 2016. He worked tirelessly and held the ball up brilliantly, winning a lot of free kicks. The French defenders up-ended him with a lot of very rough tackles, but he still won every 50-50 ball. A really honest work-horse, so it was great to see him have his moment in the sun. Also, Walter Casagrande was a great target-man. And Ruud Guillet could play many, many different tactical roles in a match, but among them was that he was an exceptionally good target-man.

Different kinds of target man is there,Giroud is more good in positional movements and creating spaces on the pitch ,he is not just a target man but sometimes he plays like an attacking midfielder in midfield position and assisting goals and not being selfish.other strikers like Suarez,kane,morata are not like that ,there position and task is fixed,to score goals,not caring about others,that's the difference.

False 9 have a lot of freedom ,he doesn't have to wait for a mistake of CBs, he can look for a free place on the pitch. Target man play between Cbs, more forcefully, His task is keep the ball and enable the team offensive transition. The best targetmans like Giround can create space for teammates, break line of defense and for example, pass ball to the winger by chest. Generally target man is static ,tall ,strong.
