Olivier Rousteing is so talented! I've never heard of Balmain until the collaboration with H&M but it has quickly become one of my favorite brands. His style is simply phenomenal! I am a fan of the tribal/post apocalyptic look and he seems to incorporate these into his looks, but also makes it look so elegant so it's only right for me to be a fan. Olivier, if you ask me, is killing the fashion game right now! And of course I mean that in a good way ;)

I don't like hearing "I had a rough background" from someone who still benefited from certain privileges. Not knowing where you "came from" is a non-problem. It might affect your curiosity and self-image, but you're not suffering. I like Olivier and what he's doing for Balmain, but he is what we call a socialite designer. In today's design world, you rarely hear of the process and technicalities of being a successful creative director, designer, etc. We don't know these people's histories and backgrounds - we simply know the condensed version. (Graduated, went on to work for a design company, became successful.) That's it. All we know. I'm not speaking solely about Olivier here, as we've witnessed this with countless others.

You don't know all his background, in fact when his parents came to adopt him, the people working at the orphanage asked them "are you sure you want a black baby, I mean there are plenty other white baby", so he was born at a very racist time
