New subscriber here! My KZbin recommended your part 1 of this series for your apartment hunting & I'm so glad I found your channel! There's not many male creators that show apartment hunting + I live in Arizona, but it's really motivating/entertaining to see the New York lifestyle! You have such a fun & calm personality that makes it enjoyable to watch your videos! Can't wait for part 3 hopefully 😄 Also, CONGRATS on getting the apartment 🎉

Been living in Jersey City since late of 2019. And the main reason I prefer to live in JC than NYC is being able to come home and unwind from the busy work/life of NYC. Right now, JSQ is gentrifying more and more, so you’re in a good market. BUT, don’t expect that rate to stay long. If possible, do a long rental lease. And who knows, if you’re able to find a new home and want to move out, you could try to sublease it. When I stayed in JC, there was a brand new apt building 10 min walk from Grove St. I stayed in a 1 bedroom 7XXsqft, high ceiling. It was only $23XX. Now, it is going for $3XXX. When I was moving out, someone is already on stand by to receive my unit 😂.

union city is also an option especially along park ave closer to the lincoln tunnel. I used to live there and had parking & gym in the building and a supermarket within walking distance. I also had a 2bd for the price of what some of the more expensive jersey city studios were going for. There were 2 different bus routes with multiple buses so getting into the city was never an issue.

LOL I looked at 45 River Dr S too when moving here. Glad we both read the reviews

Also, if you work in the city you still pay NYC city tax right?
@OllehRebelzАй бұрын
Not from what I heard from others and read online

@@OllehRebelz ah I think you might be right! Well that's reassuring since I could end up switching offices from Jersey to NYC

I'm kinda surprised! The prices are more reasonable than i thought. I've lived in NYC my whole life and am shocked you can get a 1 bedroom in Jersey for under $3k. Maybe the market is taking a turn.

It’s funny cause an in unit washer and dryer is not standard in most apartments in nj when you compare it to other states other than ny, and if we’re talking about price 2600 for a one bedroom is insane, let alone 2100 for a studio. That has little to no amenities. I live in downtown Charlotte NC, live in a one be luxury high rise and pay $1800 and it’s absolutely massive, with so many amenities, like a full fledged gym, outdoor pool, clubhouse/lounge, cowork space, and more. Easily would be 2800++ in NJ, glad i got out of there.

Where is the Buy version
@FunkyChild718Ай бұрын
Just buy once rates are low. I pay only $900 for the coop fee for a 700 sq foot 1 br coop that I own on the UWS. The fee hasn't went up in 10 years.

I’m in Bayonne by the bus and lightrail . 3 bed one bath on a three family house for 2k. I love it. By a bunch of shops and restaurants. I have a deck and we share the backyard.

My friend moved from The Bronx to Bayonne. He was able to get a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment for $1500 a month during the pandemic.

Heads up! You pay NYC tax if you work in NYC and live in NJ. You will be double taxed.
@OllehRebelzАй бұрын
Not true if you live in NJ. What I heard from a lot of ppl and saw online
@karenclark8374Ай бұрын
@ NY State charges tax on any income that is created in NY. If your paycheck comes from NY, you pay NY taxes.
@OllehRebelzАй бұрын
State tax, yes. City tax, no.
@Hrathen39Ай бұрын
No city tax that's a separate tax. City tax only applies to those who live in the five boroughs, and Yonkers? Anyways that's why I decided to live in jersey city over NYC. Commute time is the same anyway
