Wow, what an increadible interview. Both by you, thank you Jack, and by Ollie. A truly inspirational listen from start to finish. I am always blown away by our former and current Uk and US SF operatives by what they have been through, predominately for our benefit and in a lot of cases where they are now offering so much by the way of inspiration in a world that needs, so much, of what they and you are bringing to us all. Now more than ever we need to learn some of the lessons on offer from you guys in order to make this world a better place for our Children and future generations. Huge thanks Jack and keep up the outstanding work. And yes you are spot on with the P226, its a great piece.

Please tell folks about this PC. Its awesome what JC is doing here. The diversity of his guests, the depth of his questions, the humor he injects keep looking for new eps. This PC needs to spread like Cleared Hot, Mike Drop, Combat Stories, etc and it definitely compliments all of those shows. Good Dude among Good Dudes.

At 54:00 when Ollie starts explaining the fear he felt is really interesting to me. These SF guys have always done dangerous jobs, but very seldom without choosing the time and place of the violence and all the players on the field. Very seldom are they ever at a disadvantage of being surprised. Regular army, truck drivers, patrolling as the bait is far worse.

Great guest, what a legend. Thank you Mr. Carr. Glad I thought about things before I unsubscribed, hope you don't take a little criticism to personally. Can't wait to read his book and watch the Terminal List this weekend. I honestly didn't know a thing about you and your books until I stumbled on the Terminal List at a book store a couple years ago and gave it a read. I have since read every book since then and blew through In The Blood in a single day. I look forward to the next one.

One thing that all SF guys I've seen on here have in common is a kind of presence I can't describe well, but can spot on sight. Jack Higgins talked about in his books as ' a kind of arrogant self-sufficiency' (referring to airborne troops, specifically.) No bragging, no need. Len Deighton also alluded to it when describing aircrew in 'Bomber' - the public perception being that they 'flew with drunken abandon and made love with sober intensity' when in fact the opposite was true. It's a kind of hard won, non-plussed, bounce-back ability, no fear, nothing fazes them, nothing surprises them, nothing shocks them. These traits are golden and of course many people have it, not everyone who has it is SF, but I'd bet any money that every SF guy is like this. Thank you Jack if you do read this, bringing these men to the public eye and allowing them to share such amazing and insightful stories. God bless

Greetings from Bloomington Indiana! I just checked my notifications and I read the guests name and recognized it immediately! I remember seeing his books on audible. ‘Break point’ narrated by himself and the 1st book in the Alex Abbott series. The narrator, Colin Mace did a great job1. 2 very well written books. Go check them out! I hope y’all have a nice day

SAS Aus Who Dares is published here on YT, some of the UK ones are too. Up to at least, season 4, with Clint Emerson on it that I've seen.
@michaelanderson77152 жыл бұрын
1:32 JACK; update your terminology. It hasn't been called 'SAS selection' for over 20 years now. It changed from separate selection courses (22 SAS ran theirs/SBS ran theirs) to a selection course wherein BOTH sets of candidates attend the same selection course under the umbrella term United Kingdom Special Forces, UKSF selection. Note that they are on the same course until the successful SAS candidates complete it (after 6 months). At this point the SAS candidates are badged as SAS troopers and begin their service at Credenhill (SAS HQ, near Hereford). However, the SBS candidates still have maritime elements to complete before officially passing selection and beginning their SBS service.

The guy is a beast, but I thought he served a LOT longer within SF. From 2002-2018 was a time of enormous progression for SF units, seems like he missed out on the prime time.
@realMaverickBuckley2 жыл бұрын
Same. But he did 5 years as a Marine Commando, was selected and passed the SAS 6 month training, then passed SBS training , then 6 years in the SBS and SBS is a shed load of action. Plus contract work after. He served tours of the troubles in Northern Ireland, Desert Storm , Bosnia, Iraq 2 then whatever he did during his SBS and Contract years. What a slap in the face to be axed for 'a diversity drive'.

I always look forward to the gear highlight section, but recently it seems like everything is more expensive/overpriced than usual. $3k for steak knives? Haha Not many average Joe's can reasonably buy or enjoy most of this stuff..
