Ollie Thorley Tribute

For someone who is only 22, now a regular starter for Gloucester,
may also be going to Japan for the world cup and is certainly one of the best wingers currently in England, Thorley has done pretty well for himself.

He moves exactly like Ben Smith. He’s got snake hips and can change direction very quickly at speed. If you look close enough he has the BEST ball shielding skill I’ve ever seen on a rugby player. He automatically moves the ball from one hand to another depending on the position of the defender. Underrated and will surely feature more for England in the years to come.

Before anyone replies ‘switching balls from one hand to another is a basic skill’ I challenge anyone to name one player in the HISTORY of rugby that does it better than Thorley.

He reminds me of Phil Christophers in terms of running/stepping gait. But I'd be quite surprised if he could do 10.6 with so much of a leg imbalance and a really inefficient style.

Well he's not really about flat out pace, he's so elusive, something that many flat out rapid wingers are not
